Experimental Study on a 1000W Dead-End H2/O2 PEM Fuel Cell Stack with Cascade Type for Improving Fuel Utilization [PDF]

open access: yesHydrogen, Fuel Cell & Energy Storage, 2017
Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) with a dead-ended anode and cathode can obtain high hydrogen and oxygen utilization by a comparatively simple system. Nevertheless, the accumulation of the water in the anode and cathode channels might cause a

Prediction of fly-rock during boulder blasting on infrastructure slopes using CART technique

open access: yesGeomatics, Natural Hazards & Risk, 2021
Boulder blasting is a different process from conventional bench blasting. Fly-rock produced in boulder blasting is a major safety concern due to the presence of 360° free-face which may result into excessive throw of the fragments radially up to 900 m ...

Influence of Graphene Oxide on the Ethanol Permeability and Ionic Conductivity of QPVA-Based Membrane in Passive Alkaline Direct Ethanol Fuel Cells

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2019
Passive alkaline–direct ethanol fuel cells (alkaline–DEFCs) appear to be suitable for producing sustainable energy for portable devices. However, ethanol crossover is a major challenge for passive alkaline–DEFC systems.

CFD modeling to study the effect of particle size on dispersion in 20l explosion chamber: An overview

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining Science and Technology, 2020
Mine disasters occur predominantly due to methane or coal dust explosion or a combination of both. Among the top ten worst coal mine disasters in India, nine are due to coal dust explosion. The current paper describes a general overview of the parameters

Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy for Investigation of Different Losses in 4-cells Short Stack with Integrated Humidifier and Water Separator [PDF]

open access: yesHydrogen, Fuel Cell & Energy Storage, 2016
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a suitable and powerful diagnostic testing method for fuel cells (FCs) since it is non-destructive and provides useful information about FC performance and its components. In this study, for the first time,

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Effect of β-resin of binderless coke on mechanical properties of high-density carbon blocks at high molding pressure

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
High-density carbon blocks have excellent mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. In particular, these blocks are applied in various fields while maintaining excellent physical properties even in harsh environments. In this study, binderless coke
