The study compares two silica precursors, TEOS and OMCTS, for producing Yb2O3, Al2O3‐doped nanoparticle aggregates via atmospheric microwave plasma. TEOS‐based sol–gel precursors yield 20‐40 times higher dopant homogeneity in vitrified samples than OMCTS‐based emulsions. This difference is attributed to distinct evaporation behaviors and water content,

Brightness enhancement limits in pulsed cladding pumped fiber Raman amplifiers
We analyze theoretically limitations on the brightness enhancement of a multimode pump beam, to be efficiently converted into a diffraction-limited Stokes beam in a cladding-pumped fiber Raman amplifier.

ABSTRACT To improve the strength–toughness balance of IN718, and alleviate the brittleness commonly associated with refractory high‐entropy alloys, this study proposes a novel strategy to fabricate defect‐free IN718/WMoTaNb heterogeneous multiprincipal element alloy coatings via laser‐directed energy deposition.

Ultrasonic Vibration Assisted Laser Processing: A Hybrid Paradigm for Extreme Surface Enhancement
ABSTRACT Traditional laser processing techniques offer many advantages, but they often encounter limitations such as heat‐affected zones, recast layers, residual tensile stresses, and poor surface finish. The integration of ultrasonic vibration (UV) presents a promising hybrid approach to overcome these challenges by introducing beneficial effects like

ABSTRACT The vitrification of high‐level waste (HLW) into borosilicate glass is a cornerstone of nuclear waste management, yet one of the key challenges in glass formulation for high‐aluminum‐containing waste streams is the precipitation of nepheline during the canister cooling stage.

Finite element modelling of pellet-clad interaction during operational transients [PDF]
A finite element model of pellet-clad interaction in advanced gas cooled reactor fuel experiencing extended reduced power operations is presented. The model considers a 1/8th segment of fuel and overlaying cladding bonded to it.

ZIRFLEX DISSOLUTION OF THE ANNULAR CLADDING OF SIMULATED POWER FUEL ELEMENTS [PDF]
A study was conducted to compare the estimated dissolution rate of Zircaloy-2 clad annular fuel elements on the fully expesed metal with that in the annuli. Results indicate that decladding of these elements should proceed uniformly on all surfaces. Heat balance data from the study are also reported. (J.R.D.)
