Molten carbonate fuel cell operation with dual fuel flexibility [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Power Sources, 2007
Abstract The ability to operate highly efficient, pollution-free, distributed-generation power plants on either natural gas or HD-5 grade propane is of interest to the U.S. Army and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as secure power for critical power operations.

Key problems of gas‐fired power plants participating in peak load regulation: A review

open access: yesIET Cyber-Physical Systems, 2023
The peak regulation capacity of gas‐fired power plants has always been an important flexibility resource of the power grid. Under the guidance of carbon emission reduction, the coal power units are gradually shut down, making the role of gas‐fired power ...

Multilayer Self‐Limiting Electrospray Deposition via Stepped Voltage Bias

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐limiting electrospray deposition (SLED) uses a high voltage to generate and deposit a charged payload on a target surface. The coating retains its charge, repelling newly arriving material. SLED thickness can be decreased by applying a secondary bias to the target.

Fabrication of Flexible Micro CO Sensor for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell Applications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2016
Carbon monoxide poisons the catalyst of the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) subsequently degrading the fuel cell performance. The molecular bond of platinum (Pt) in the catalyst electrode will be seized by carbon monoxide.

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

A method to produce a flexible and customized fuel models dataset

open access: yesMethodsX, 2023
Simulation of vegetation fires very often resorts to fire-behavior models that need fuel models as input. The lack of fuel models is a common problem for researchers and fire managers because its quality depends on the quality/availability of data.

Real-Time Flexibility Assessment for Power Systems with High Wind Energy Penetration

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
To reduce the reliance on fossil fuel-based generation, many countries expand the use of renewable energy sources (RES) for electricity production. The stochastic and intermittent nature of such sources (i.e., wind and solar) poses challenges to the ...
