Sustainable Materials Design With Multi‐Modal Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Critical mineral scarcity, high embodied carbon, and persistent pollution from materials processing intensify the need for sustainable materials design. This review frames the problem as multi‐objective optimization under heterogeneous, high‐dimensional evidence and highlights multi‐modal AI as an enabling pathway.

Fuel injection temperature determination and effect on the injection process for different alternative fuels

open access: yes, 2012
The influence of the fuel temperature on injection using a pump-line-nozzle system of a medium speed diesel engine was studied for different fuels. The impact of the temperature was significant, suggesting that accurate knowledge of the injected fuel temperature is necessary in order to provide quantitative spray data.

Tuning Defects in Ni‐Doped Maghemite for Enhanced Solar Driven Oxygen Evolution: Insights From Operando X‐Ray Spectroscopies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Maghemite (γ$\gamma$‐Fe2${\rm Fe}_2$O3${\rm O}_{3}$) is a promising non‐precious‐metal‐containing photocatalyst for water oxidation (OER). Despite being less studied than Hematite, it offers similar corrosion resistance and a favorable band structure, along with higher conductivity and the advantage of an adaptable spinel structure.

Nernstian Diagnostics of Imperfect Selectivity in Naphthalene Diimide‐Based Aqueous Organic Redox Flow Battery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Non‐ideal redox electrolytes still govern the Nernstian behavior of electrode potentials in aqueous organic redox flow batteries under operation. We utilized this effect to analytically predict two scenarios of battery performance degradation. ABSTRACT Aqueous organic redox flow batteries (AORFBs) enhance the sustainability of battery energy storage ...
