Development of LWR Fuel Performance Analysis Codes

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 1993
Abstract This paper is to cover brief history of the development of LWR fuel performance analysis codes in Japan. This includes the FEMAXI-III code which calculates local stress and strain of the cladding at power ramp due to the pellet cladding mechanical interaction (PCMI) using axisymmetric finite element method.

Performance optimization and microbiological analysis of microbial fuel cell

open access: yesJournal of Hebei University of Science and Technology, 2016
In order to improve the operation performance of microbial fuel cells, improved the degradation rate of nitrate and the power output of microbial fuel cell, a typical single chamber air-cathode microbial fuel cell (AC-MFC) is inoculated and operated with

Performance Analysis of Air-Breathing Fuel Cells [PDF]

open access: yesECS Transactions, 2006
We present a theoretical analysis of an air-breathing PEM fuel cell that has a non-planar microstructure and we compare its performance to a fuel cell with the traditional planar architecture. Previous theoretical and experimental studies demonstrate that air-breathing fuel cells exhibit unique performance characteristics due to membrane ...

Establishing an Apheresis Medicine Program in a Resource‐Constrained Setting: A 5‐Year Experience From Lagos, Nigeria

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Establishing a comprehensive apheresis medicine program in a resource‐constrained setting presents significant structural, financial, and logistical challenges. Despite the growing clinical importance of apheresis services globally, published experience from sub‐Saharan Africa remains sparse.

Using Current Distribution Measurements to Characterize the Behavior of HTPEMFCs

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2014
Current distribution is a very interesting technique for the characterization of fuel cells because it gives very valuable information about the performance of the cell and it could help to optimize its efficiency. In this work, this technique is used in

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Parametric Analysis of a High Temperature PEM Fuel Cell Based Microcogeneration System

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2016
This study focuses on performance analysis of a 1 kWe microcogeneration system based on a high temperature proton exchange membrane (HT-PEM) fuel cell by means of parametric investigation. A mathematical model for a system consisting of a fuel processor (

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Performance Analysis Based on Fuel Valve Train Control Optimization of Ammonia-Fuel Ships

open access: yesEnergies
In order to reduce carbon emissions, which are currently a problem in the shipping and offshore plant sectors, the international community is strengthening regulations such as the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and Energy Efficiency Existing Ship ...
