Investigation of fuel retention via gas balance on HT-7

Vacuum, 2012
Abstract An investigation of fuel retention is conducted on HT-7. This paper introduces the time evolution of fuel retention for two consecutive long discharges. The retention on various wall statuses was also studied. It showed that wall statuses have strong influence on the retention.

Post-mortem measurements of fuel retention at JET

Physica Scripta, 2014
The deuterium inventory at Joint European Torus in co-deposits and bulk material in inner, outer and upper wall components of the vacuum vessel exposed in 2007-2009 has been determined using nuclear reaction analysis and secondary ion mass spectrometry and optical microscopy.

Fuel Retention in LHD

Fusion Science and Technology, 2010
A global particle balance study has been investigated in the Large Helical Device (LHD) in which the first wall and the divertor tiles are made of stainless steel (SUS-316L) and carbon, respectivel...

Fuel retention studies on MAST

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2011
Abstract Fuel retention has been studied on MAST using gas-balance analysis. With 8–15 min of inter-shot helium glow-discharge cleaning ( 4 He-GDC), the wall retention fraction stays very high (>90%) during the flat-top of the plasma current, indicating this component is dominant during the discharge.

Fuel Retention in the Gas Box Divertor of JET

Fusion Science and Technology, 2005
Components of the JET Mk-II Gas Box divertor have been analysed ex-situ after 18 months of operation with that divertor structure. The aim was to give an account on the distribution of the retained fuel along the poloidal cross-section of the divertor and, in particular, in the septum.

Retention of Diesel Fuel in Aquifer Material

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 1990
Retention of diesel fuel in soil material from the Borden aquifer was investigated for five particle-size fractions over the size range 75-500 micrometers and for different packing structures. Results show a variation in retention with pore structure, especially for small particle size.

Fuel retention in tokamaks

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2009
Abstract Tritium retention constitutes an outstanding problem for ITER operation and future fusion reactors, particularly for the choice of the first wall materials. In present day tokamaks, fuel retention is evaluated by two complementary methods.

Entry and Retention of Methanol Fuel in Engine Oil

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1988
<div class="htmlview paragraph">To ensure that vehicles do not suffer adverse consequences when high-methanol-content fuel (M100 or M85) is used, it is important to understand the ways that the use of this fuel affects various vehicle systems.

Retention of Fuel Hydrogen Retention of Tungsten Plasma Facing Wall in Fusion Reactor

Materials Science Forum, 2012
In-vessel tritium inventory in fusion reactors has to be reduced from a view point of safety in fusion reactors. It is required to evaluate the amount of tritium retained in tungsten plasma facing walls. The plasma discharge with hydrogen isotope (deuterium) was conducted to evaluate the tritium retention in tungsten.
