Premixed Fuel Effect on Ignition and Combustion of Dual Fuel Compression Ignition Engine

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2015
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Effects of chemical reaction characteristics of premixed fuel were experimentally studied in a dual fuel compression ignition engine using port injection (PI) of gasoline-like component and direct injection (DI) of diesel fuel.

Ignition Probability and Absolute Minimum Ignition Energy in Fuel Sprays

Combustion Science and Technology, 1992
Abstract Ignition in a one dimensional spray by a short duration source is modeled numerically. The probabilistic nature of spray ignition is discussed using a deterministic approach. The ignition source is modeled by a hot gas region of a defined thickness simulating a pilot flame or a low temperature spark source.

Charging and ignition of sprayed fuel

Electrical Overstress/Electrostatic Discharge Symposium Proceedings. 1999 (IEEE Cat. No.99TH8396), 2000
Abstract There have been many recorded incidents of aircraft fuel tank ignition. While electrostatic discharges have undoubtedly started fires during fuelling on the ground, the cause of in-flight fuel tank explosions is difficult to establish and attributing these events to static electricity is very controversial.

Laser dispersion and ignition of metal fuel particles

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2011
The development of a laser-shock technique for dispersing Al metal fuel particles at velocities approaching those expected in a detonating explosive is discussed. The technique is described in detail by quantifying how air drag affects the temporal variation of the velocity of the dispersed particle plume. The effect of particle size is incorporated by

Ignition and Combustion of Liquid Fuel Droplets Part II: Ignition Studies

Combustion Science and Technology, 1986
Abstract The ignition process of liquid fuel droplets has been studied. A laboratory flame maintained by a vertical, monosized liquid fuel droplet array surrounded by a laminar flow of a mixture of helium and oxygen represents the system investigated. A system of partial differential equations describing the ignition of a single droplet was formulated.

Particulate emissions from laser ignited and spark ignited hydrogen fueled engines

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2017
Abstract Exponentially increasing energy demand and stricter emission legislations have motivated researchers to explore alternative fuels and advanced engine technologies, which are more efficient and environment friendly. In last two decades, hydrogen has emerged as promising alternative fuel for internal combustion (IC) engines and vehicles.
