π‐Extended Silyl Enolates as Emerging Platforms in Radical Chemistry
This review covers the emerging role of π‐extended silyl polyenol ethers in radical chemistry. It highlights their versatile roles as electron‐rich SOMOphiles, silyl radical cation precursors, and nucleophilic partners in radical–polar crossover manifolds, while considering recent advances in photoredox catalysis, electrochemistry, and transition metal‐

An inexpensive industrial refrigerant, HFO‐1234ze, is transformed into a versatile fluoroalkyl building block via a scalable, solvent‐free protocol. Utilizing the metal‐free photocatalyst 4CzIPN, efficient visible‐light‐induced radical addition to alkynes reveals distinct, substrate‐dependent stereoselectivities.

Changes in Tornado Climatology Accompanying the Enhanced Fujita Scale
Journal of Applied Meteorology and Climatology, 2021AbstractUnited States tornado records form the basis for a variety of meteorological, climatological and disaster-risk analyses, but how reliable are they in light of changing standards for rating, as with the 2007 transition of Fujita (F) to Enhanced Fujita (EF) damage scales? To what extent are recorded tornado metrics subject to such influences that

The International Fujita Scale and its implementation
2023
Here we report on the development of the International Fujita (IF) scale, developed by ESSL and partners, which provides a globally applicable framework for rating tornado and convective wind damage.

Around the world, tornado damage is rated using the Enhanced Fujita (EF-)scale, the ...

The Enhanced Fujita Scale: Development and Implementation
Forensic Engineering 2009, 2009The original Fujita Scale (F Scale) was introduced as a means of estimating the intensity of tornadoes and hurricanes by relating appearance of damage to wind speeds. The relationships were based on the extensive experience of Dr. Fujita but were never independently verified.

The Enhanced Fujita Scale: For Use Beyond Tornadoes?
Forensic Engineering 2009, 2009The Enhanced Fujita (EF) Scale was developed specifically for the estimation of wind speeds based on damage caused by tornado winds. Recently, the question has arisen as to whether or not the EF Scale can be reliably used in reverse to predict the amount of wind damage based on measured or estimated hurricane wind speeds, particularly when wind action ...

Testing the scale effect predicted by the Fujita–Krugman urbanization model
Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, 2004Abstract This paper tests the scale effect predicted by the Fujita–Krugman [Fujita, M., Krugman, P., 1995. When is the economy monocentric? von Thűnen and Chamberlin unified. Regional Science & Urban Economics 25, 505–528] urbanization model, which implies a monotonically positive relationship between the average firm size and the degree of ...
