Investigation of Full-Reference Image Quality Assessment
2014The errors in imaging system create distorted image which affect the human perception of the image. This degradation in quality of image can be evaluated by image quality assessment (IQA) methods. To evaluate human subjectivity, the techniques need to follow the method of human visual system (HVS).

Image quality assessment by preprocessing and full reference model combination
SPIE Proceedings, 2009This paper focuses on full-reference image quality assessment and presents different computational strategies aimed to improve the robustness and accuracy of some well known and widely used state of the art models, namely the Structural Similarity approach (SSIM) by Wang and Bovik and the S-CIELAB spatial-color model by Zhang and Wandell.

Full Reference Image Quality Assessment: A Survey
2017This article presents a brief review on full-reference (FR) image quality assessment (IQA) techniques. The discussion starts with traditional Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and then gradually moves to complex IQA models based on wavelets (or its various variants) and human visual system (HVS).

Full reference and reduced reference metrics for image quality assessment
Seventh International Symposium on Signal Processing and Its Applications, 2003. Proceedings., 2003In this paper, we propose efficient full reference and reduced reference image quality assessment metrics. These two metrics are based on human visual system properties to get the best correspondence with human judgments. The full reference metric is generic (independent from image distortion type) and convenient for image coding schemes comparison ...

Full Reference Quality Assessment of DIBR-Based Synthesized Images
2018 International Conference on 3D Immersion (IC3D), 2018Nowadays, free viewpoint video applications provide more immersive, interactive and appealing experiences to the end user. Usually, a Multiview plus Depth (MVD) 3D representation model is used, where only a few views are transmitted and the rest are synthesized at the receiver, often with a Depth Image Based Rendering (DIBR) technique.

Machine learning to design full-reference image quality assessment algorithm
Signal Processing: Image Communication, 2012A crucial step in image compression is the evaluation of its performance, and more precisely, available ways to measure the quality of compressed images. In this paper, a machine learning expert, providing a quality score is proposed. This quality measure is based on a learned classification process in order to respect human observers.

Dynamic Receptive Field Generation for Full-Reference Image Quality Assessment
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2020Most full-reference image quality assessment (FR-IQA) methods advanced to date have been holistically designed without regard to the type of distortion impairing the image. However, the perception of distortion depends nonlinearly on the distortion type.

Full-reference quality assessment of stereoscopic images by modeling binocular rivalry
2012 Conference Record of the Forty Sixth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (ASILOMAR), 2012We develop a framework for assessing the quality of stereoscopic images that have been afflicted by possibly asymmetric distortions. An intermediate image is generated which when viewed stereoscopically is designed to have a perceived quality close to that of the cyclopean image.

Full-reference visual quality assessment for synthetic images: A subjective study
2015 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2015Measuring visual quality, as perceived by human observers, is becoming increasingly important in the many applications in which humans are the ultimate consumers of visual information. For assessing subjective quality of natural images, such as those taken by optical cameras, significant progress has been made for several decades.
