Parameter Variation in Planetary Ball Milling of Titanium Aluminide Powder in XHV‐Adequate Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of milling parameters, including rotational speed, milling duration, and ball‐to‐powder ratio, on TiAl particle size and morphology in an XHV‐equivalent atmosphere. The creation of oxide‐free surfaces enhances the mechanical properties of green bodies.

Fatigue Crack Propagation Estimation Based on Direct Strain Measurement during a Full-Scale Fatigue Test

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Military aircraft are subjected to variable loads, which are the main cause of initiation and propagation of cracks in the most stressed locations of the airframe. The aim of a Full-Scale Fatigue Test (FSFT) is to represent actual load conditions in such

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Tailor‐Made Protective LixAlSy Layer for Lithium Anodes to Enhance the Stability of Solid‐State Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
An intentionally added, chemically formed LixAlSy coating stabilizes the lithium–electrolyte interface in solid‐state Li–S batteries. The layer suppresses side reactions, preserves smooth charge transfer, and improves ion transport from the start. This approach offers a practical route to more durable solid‐state batteries and a clearer understanding ...

Aeroelastic scaling of flying demonstrators: mode tracking technique

open access: yesMechanics & Industry, 2022
Aeroelastic scaling theory shows that the design problem of aeroelastically equivalent scaled aircraft can be treated as a structural-only design problem if the aerodynamic shape and airflow properties of the full scale aircraft are preserved.

A Comparative Study on Early‐Stage Icing Evaluation Techniques for Passive Ice Protection Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study addresses the lack of standardized methodologies for evaluating the early‐stage icing performance of passive ice protection systems. A unified experimental protocol is proposed and applied to representative hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces under controlled conditions.
