Accelerating Full Scale Fatigue Testing
Proceedings of the Vertical Flight Society 79th Annual Forum, 2023This paper will discuss the use of Model Predictive Control (MPC) to increase the speed and accuracy of airframe fatigue testing. This will save time and cost while providing a very high fidelity test that will greatly reduce future fleet problems.

Fatigue Test on a Full Scale Panel
Key Engineering Materials, 2006Fatigue test on a full scale panel with complex loading and geometry has been carried out by using a tri-axial test machine located in the laboratory of the University of Naples. The aeronautical test panel was designed and manufactured by Alenia. The demonstrator is made up of two parts which are linked by a transversal joint that is parallel to the ...

AFP Monocoque Composite Tailboom Full Scale Fatigue Testing
Proceedings of the Vertical Flight Society 70th Annual Forum, 2014This paper describes two phases of full scale testing performed on a Bell Helicopter Textron Canada Limited (BHTCL) composite monocoque tailboom manufactured using Automated Fiber Placement (AFP). This technical demonstrator tailboom was designed for use on a Bell 407 model as part of a collaboration program with Bombardier Inc., Composite ...

Full-Scale Fatigue Test on X60 Spiral Linepipe
Volume 4: Terry Jones Pipeline Technology; Ocean Space Utilization; CFD and VIV Symposium, 2006Both fluctuation of operation pressure and transmission halt have obvious effect on the lifetime of the pipeline. When there exist flaws in the pipes, cyclic load caused by pressure fluctuation will promote the development of such defects especially as cracks. A full-scale fatigue test was performed on the X60 Spiral Submerged Arc-Welded pipes (Outside

Full-Scale Fatigue Testing of TLP Tendons
Offshore Technology Conference, 1991ABSTRACT The design of TLP tendons and tendon connectors to resist fatigue failures requires consideration of many factors, such as mean and alternating stresses, cycles, welding, residual stresses, base metal fatigue, and weld profile control. Many assumptions are necessary to do this.

Computer-based full scale fatigue testing
International Journal of Fatigue, 1979Abstract Computer-based methods can help to ease the difficulties of realistic full-scale testing by unravelling some of the complexities of multi-channel service loading simulation during the stages of data acquisition, data analysis and test rig control.

A full-scale structural fatigue test program
Journal of Aircraft, 1964Test methods are described for an experimental fatigue evaluation of a full-scale airplane structure. Specific reference is made to a fatigue test program conducted on the Lockheed P3A wing and gear. A flight-by-flight test loading spectrum comprising 7500 flight hours was constructed to represent the total service experience of the airplane.

Fatigue load testing of full-scale dynamic message signs
Engineering Structures, 2021Abstract This paper summarizes results acquired from the fatigue testings of two full-scale dynamic message signs (DMSs) fabricated by a local manufacturer in the United States. One DMS with adhesive joints and one DMS with welded joints were tested with fatigue loading.
