Full-Scale Model Test of Subway Contact Channel under Mechanical Construction

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The mechanical construction method for a subway contact channel has the advantages of a short construction period and high safety, and is more and more being applied in coastal soft-soil areas. In order to explore the suitability of this method in inland

FULL SCALE CLOSURE TEST [PDF]

open access: yes, 1962
The tests performed on a full-scale prototype of the closure designed for the Pathfinder reactor vessel are described. This head was bolted to another head designed to simulate the reactor vessel. The design pressure of the facility is 700 psig at 500 deg F. Strain gages and brittle coatings were used to determine the stresses in the closure.

Considerations in selecting laboratory scale test specimens for evaluation of fracture toughness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The assessment of defects in large steel structures requires a trustworthy evaluation of the material’s toughness. This toughness is not only a material property but is also influenced by the loading conditions and geometry; the so-called constraint. The

Semi-rigid behaviour of stainless steel beam-to-column bolted connections

open access: yesSustainable Structures, 2021
Stainless steel is increasingly used in structural applications but there is still significant lack of experimental evidence on the moment-rotation (M-) behaviour of moment resisting beam-to-column connections.

Field test of an active flap system on a full-scale wind turbine [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science, 2021
This article describes a series of validation tests of an active flap system (AFS) on a multi-megawatt wind turbine. A single blade of a 4 MW turbine with 130 m rotor diameter (SWT-4.0-130) is retrofitted in the outer 15–20 m with the AFS.
