Adsorption of amino acids by fullerenes and fullerene nanowhiskers

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2015
We have investigated the adsorption of some amino acids and an oligopeptide by fullerene (C60) and fullerene nanowhiskers (FNWs). C60 and FNWs hardly adsorbed amino acids. Most of the amino acids used have a hydrophobic side chain. Ala and Val, with an alkyl chain, were not adsorbed by the C60 or FNWs.

Recent Advances in Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ubiquitous defects predominately account for photo‐instability and open‐circuit voltage losses in wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells (WBG PSCs). This review comprehensively presents the underlying impact mechanisms, summarizes the advanced optimization strategies across various functional layers and their interfaces to develop efficient and stable WBG

A search for hydrogenated fullerenes in fullerene-containing planetary nebulae

open access: yes, 2016
Detections of C60 and C70 fullerenes in planetary nebulae (PNe) of the Magellanic Clouds and of our own Galaxy have raised the idea that other forms of carbon such as hydrogenated fullerenes (fulleranes like C60H36 and C60H18), buckyonions, and carbon ...

Biogenic fullerenes?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Astrobiology, 2003
If the discoveries of C60 and C70 fullerenes in terrestrial hard rocks are real, then some of these may have formed in the solid state by dehydrogenation-driven ‘zip-up’ of C60Hn and C70Hm progenitors. At three sites of such fullerene discoveries the building blocks for these large molecules may have come from algal remains.
