Recent Advances in Photoinduced Electron Transfer Processes of Fullerene-Based Molecular Assemblies and Nanocomposites

open access: yesMolecules, 2012
Photosensitized electron-transfer processes of fullerenes hybridized with electron donating or other electron accepting molecules have been surveyed in this review on the basis of the recent results reported mainly from our laboratories.

Side Chain Elimination Enables Low‐Cost Fused‐Ring Acceptors and Reveals a Compact Tetrameric Structure for High‐Photocurrent Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
β‐side chain elimination enables cost‐effective fused‐ring acceptors, JSM5 and JSM6, with simplified synthesis. The observed compact tetrameric structures induced by S···N intermolecular interactions lead to 3D charge transport and enhance intermolecular connectivity, delivering high short‐circuit current density up to 28 mA cm−2, a step closer to the ...

Recent progress on high-pressure and high-temperature studies of fullerenes and related materials

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes, 2019
Polymerization of fullerenes is an interesting topic that has been studied for almost three decades. A rich polymeric phase diagram of C60 has been drawn under a variety of pressure P and temperature T conditions.

Nanomaterials for Allergy Diagnosis and Treatment: Advances, Opportunities and Translational Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanomaterials offer dual applications in allergy management. For diagnosis, nanomaterials enhance analytical sensitivity and improve detection in specific IgE and functional assays such as the basophil activation test (BAT). For allergen‐specific immunotherapy, nanomaterials enable allergen masking and controlled release, and effectively modulate the ...

Interaction between doped C60 fullerenes and piperazine-2,3,5,6-tetraone: DFT simulation

open access: yesMain Group Metal Chemistry, 2018
Piperazine and tetraone-related compounds are widely used in the drug industry. Heteroatom-doped fullerenes are studied as new types of sensor devices, and medical applications are studied as drug delivery vehicles.

An Easily Synthesized Covalent Nanocage that Hosts Fullerenes in Multiple Charge States and Selectively Binds C70

open access: yes, 2021
Discrete nanocages provide a way to solubilize, separate, and tune the properties of molecular guests, including fullerenes and other aromatics. However, few such nanocages can be synthesized efficiently from inexpensive starting materials, limiting ...

Semi‐Transparent Organic Photodiodes with Near‐Infrared Detection Fabricated by Inkjet Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This work shows the inkjet printing of semi‐transparent and opaque organic photodiodes that enable light detection in the near‐infrared regime. Their transparency and high detection speed make them ideal for applications in soft robotics, wearable devices, and light communication systems.

Synthetic Chemistry of Fullerenes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Fullerenes are a class of cage-like molecules made of hexagons and exactly twelve pentagons. Since the discovery of fullerene in the middle of 1980's, the chemistry of fullerenes has become a flourishing field as a result of their unique structures and ...

The generation of fullerenes

open access: yes, 2012
We describe an efficient new algorithm. for the generation of fullerenes. Our implementation of this algorithm is more than 3.5 times faster than the previously fastest generator for fullerenes - fullgen - and the first program since fullgen to be useful
