Synthetic carbohydrate-based vaccines: challenges and opportunities
Glycoconjugate vaccines based on bacterial capsular polysaccharides (CPS) have been extremely successful in preventing bacterial infections. The glycan antigens for the preparation of CPS based glycoconjugate vaccines are mainly obtained from bacterial ...

Synthesis of Highly Twisted and Fully π-Conjugated Porphyrinic Oligomers
Highly twisted π-conjugated molecules have been attractive but challenging targets. We report here an efficient synthesis of highly twisted diporphyrins with 126° and 136° twist angles that involves an oxidative fusion reaction of planar aminoporphyrin precursors at room temperature.

Synthesis and properties of fully conjugated indacenediselenophene and diindenoselenophene derivatives [PDF]
Abstract The synthesis and characterization of indacenediselenophene (IDS) and diindenoselenophene (DIS), the selenophene-containing analogues of indacenedithiophene (IDT) and diindenothiophene (DIT), respectively, are described. Cyclic voltammetry reveals that IDS and DIS both undergo two one-electron reductions and a one-electron oxidation and have

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Metal–Dielectric Polarization-Preserving Anisotropic Mirror for Chiral Optical Tamm State
This numerical study demonstrates the possibility of exciting a chiral optical Tamm state localized at the interface between a cholesteric liquid crystal and a polarization-preserving anisotropic mirror conjugated to a metasurface.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Quantitative estimation of the hydrophilic-hydrophobic balance of mixed bile salt solutions.
This paper describes the derivation of a bile salt monomeric hydrophobicity index that quantitatively defines the composite hydrophilic-hydrophobic balance of a mixture of bile salts.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
