Some factors affecting the physical toxicity of fumigants
Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1957AbstractThe fumigant toxicities to the grain weevil Calandra granaria of 39 alkyl chlorides, bromides and thiocyanates have been estimated with considerable accuracy. The difference between toxicities of isomers on the thermodynamic scale is small, except near the cut‐off point, or when instability or chemical reactivity are evident.

The Toxicity of Various Fumigants to the Cadelle, Tenebroides mauritanicus1
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1961The toxicity of 13 fumigants to Tenebroides mauritanicus (L.) (Coleoptera: Ostomidae) has been determined and the results have been compared with data on Sitophilus granarius (L) and Tribolium confusum Jacquelin duVal. Most of the fumigants were less toxic to the cadelle than they were to the other species.

Toxicity of Seven Candidate Fumigants to Stored-Product Insects
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1966Laboratory studies were conducted to compare the toxicity of 7 candidate fumigants with methyl bromide (reference standard) to adults of confused flour beetle, Tribolium confusum Jacquelin du Val and of cigarette beetle Lasioderma serricorne (F.), and larvae of black carpet beetle, Attagenus piceus (Olivier).

Fumigant toxicity of plant essential oils against Camptomyia corticalis (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae).
Journal of economic entomology, 2012The toxicity of 98 plant essential oils against third instars of cecidomyiid gall midge Camptomyia corticalis (Loew) (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) was examined using a vapor-phase mortality bioassay. Results were compared with that of a conventional insecticide dichlorvos.

Oxygen at and below 1 atmosphere pressure was found to enhance the toxicity of seven different fumigants to two species of insects. Although oxygen produced no obvious effects on untreated insects, it enhanced the effect of the poisons within the first 24–30 hours after treatment.

Fumigant toxicity of essential oils against four major storage insect pests
Indian Journal of Entomology, 2017As laboratory experiments were carried out to find the fumigant toxicity of 17 essential oils extracted from locally available plants against four storage insect pests, Sitophilus oryzae, Rhyzopertha dominica, Tribolium castaneum and Callosobruchus Chinensis in wheat and gram.

Fumigant toxicities of essential oils and monoterpenes against Lycoriella mali adults
Crop Protection, 2006Abstract Toxicity of various essential oils and their volatile components against the mushroom sciarid, Lycoriella mali was determined. The most potent fumigant toxicity was found in essential oil from thyme followed by the oils of sage, eucalyptus, and clove bud. α-Pinene was the most toxic fumigant compound found in thyme essential oil ( LD

The toxicity of twelve fumigants to three species of mites infesting grain
Journal of Stored Products Research, 1981Abstract Eggs of Tyrophagus longior, Acarus siro and Glycyphagus destructor were highly tolerant of each fumigant tested at 10°C while mobile stages were susceptible. Some eggs of T. longior survived the highest test dosages of methyl bromide, phosphine, ethylene oxide, ethyl formate, methallyl chloride and ethyl bromide.

The role of oxygen in the toxicity of fumigants to insects
Journal of Stored Products Research, 1967Abstract The toxicity of fumigants to insects is dependent on two distinct processes (1) uptake of the fumigant and (2) toxication. Both of these processes may be influenced by the ambient oxygen tension. The importance of oxygen is indicated or inferred in many reports in the extensive literature that has accumulated in fumigation research ...
