Quantitative Measure of Stability in Gene Regulatory Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
A quantitative measure of stability in stochastic dynamics starts to emerge in recent experiments on bioswitches. This quantity, similar to the potential function in mathematics, is deeply rooted in biology, dated back at the beginning of quantitative description of biological processes: the adaptive landscape of Wright (1932) and the development ...

Unraveling the Complex Interplay Between T Cell Metabolism and Function.

open access: yesAnnual Review of Immunology, 2018
Metabolism drives function, on both an organismal and a cellular level. In T cell biology, metabolic remodeling is intrinsically linked to cellular development, activation, function, differentiation, and survival.

Ablation of LRP6 in alpha‐smooth muscle actin‐expressing cells abrogates lung inflammation and fibrosis upon bleomycin‐induced lung injury

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

GP73-mediated secretion of PKM2 and GP73 promotes angiogenesis and M2-like macrophage polarization in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignant tumors. Abnormally high expression of Golgi protein 73 (GP73) and pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) is intimately associated with HCC progression. However, as secreted proteins, the role of their

Atomic Biology, Electrostatics, and Ionic Channels [PDF]

open access: yesNew Developments and Theoretical Studies of Proteins, Ed. Ron Elber, World Scientific Publishing, Philadelphia (1996) ISBN-10:9810221967; ISBN-13:978-9810221966, 2008
I believe an atomic biology is needed to supplement present day molecular biology, if we are to design and understand proteins, as well as define, make, and use them. Topics in the paper are molecular biology and atomic biology. Electrodiffusion in the open channel. Electrodiffusion in mixed electrolytes. Models of permeation.

A two-dimensional interpolation function for irregularly-spaced data

open access: yesACM National Conference, 1968
In many fields using empirical areal data there arises a need for interpolating from irregularly-spaced data to produce a continuous surface. These irregularly-spaced locations, hence referred to as “data points,” may have diverse meanings: in meterology,

Characteristics of the Kelch domain containing (KLHDC) subfamily and relationships with diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Kelch protein superfamily includes 63 members, with the KLHDC subfamily having 10 proteins. While their functions are not fully understood, recent advances in KLHDC2's structure and role in protein degradation have highlighted its potential for drug development, especially in PROTAC therapies.

Chemical genetics and strigolactone perception [version 1; referees: 2 approved]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2017
Strigolactones (SLs) are a collection of related small molecules that act as hormones in plant growth and development. Intriguingly, SLs also act as ecological communicators between plants and mycorrhizal fungi and between host plants and a collection of

Analysis of Boolean Functions based on Interaction Graphs and their influence in System Biology [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Interaction graphs provide an important qualitative modeling approach for System Biology. This paper presents a novel approach for construction of interaction graph with the help of Boolean function decomposition. Each decomposition part (Consisting of 2-bits) of the Boolean functions has some important significance.
