Estimating the noise reduction effect of the Helmholtz resonator using a two-degree-of-freedom mass-spring-damping model

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
To reduce noise, Helmholtz resonators are widely used in internal-combustion engine intake systems, in the rocket engine's combustion chambers and building wall materials.

Undecidability in function fields of positive characteristic

open access: yes, 2008
We prove that the first-order theory of any function field K of characteristic p>2 is undecidable in the language of rings without parameters. When K is a function field in one variable whose constant field is algebraic over a finite field, we can also ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Green’s function based space-charge field solver for electron source simulations

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2007
We present a theoretical formulation for calculating the electromagnetic space-charge fields within a simplified electron source geometry using time-dependent Green’s function methods.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Model-agnostic neural mean field with a data-driven transfer function

open access: yesNeuromorphic Computing and Engineering
As one of the most complex systems known to science, modeling brain behavior and function is both fascinating and extremely difficult. Empirical data is increasingly available from ex vivo human brain organoids and surgical samples, as well as in vivo ...

Reduction of Work Function in Nanostructured Modern Cathodes for the Field Emission (Based on the Example of Tungsten Oxide W18O49 "Nanopencils")

open access: yesФізика і хімія твердого тіла
Within the framework of a simple analytical model, an expression has been obtained that allows to calculate the work function near the tips of a nanostructured cathodes used in modern field emission devices.

Microperimetry

open access: yesTürk Oftalmoloji Dergisi, 2011
Visual acuity is still considered the gold standard in clinical practice of vision testing, but it does not entirely reflect functional vision. Therefore, we need other functional tests to perform more detailed assessment of macular function in retinal ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
