Low-Frequency Electromagnetic Imaging Using Sensitivity Functions and Beamforming

SIAM Journal on Imaging Sciences, 2020
The authors propose a new scheme for performing imaging using low-frequency electromagnetic waves in inhomogeneous media. The main idea is based on a novel computational filtering scheme and the introduction of algorithms for simulating electromagnetic signals in complex media.

Adaptive Beamforming Using Radial Basis Function

2021
With the advancements in 5G mobile communication, the need for improvements in spatial signal processing has become indispensable. Beamforming is one such technique used to transmit or receive wireless signals in a particular direction in space and suppress interfering signals. This is achieved by making use of a uniform antenna array.

Adaptive Beamforming for Multi-Function In-Band Full-Duplex Applications

IEEE Wireless Communications, 2021
The ability of in-band full duplex (IBFD) technology to support multiple simultaneous functions within wireless systems will enable it to be adopted into both existing networks and innovative applications that have not yet been fully realized. In order to accomplish this goal, an effective way to mitigate the consequential self-interference must be ...

Advanced beamforming for improved functional assessment in echocardiography

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2019
Echocardiography is one of the most used medical imaging exams. The data from these exams are often used to compute quantitative metrics of cardiac health including measures such as the global longitudinal strain (GLS) or ejection fraction. Metrics related to blood flow are also derived from echocardiography data.

Sparse Array Receiver Beamformer Design for Multi-Functional Antenna

2020 28th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO), 2021
Planning sensor locations can potentially economize the receiver cost by minimizing the hardware and computational needs, while satisfying a predetermined design criterion. In this paper, we consider a sparse array receive beamformer design approach for Multi-Functional Antennas (MFA), operating in different frequency bands.

Green's Functions for In-Duct Beamforming Applications

18th AIAA/CEAS Aeroacoustics Conference (33rd AIAA Aeroacoustics Conference), 2012
*This paper considers the calculation of Green’s fun ctions in a ducted parallel shear flow, in which both the flow speed and the temperature vary in radial direction. The duct can be hollow or annular. Wall lining can be locally or no n-locally reacting. For annular ducts, the hub may be lined as well.

Application of Bridge Function Sequences in Passive Beamformer

2009 International Conference on Networks Security, Wireless Communications and Trusted Computing, 2009
This paper provides a new kind of passive beamformer which uses bridge function sequences as spreading sequence weights. The passive beamformer uses pseudorandom spreading sequence as weight of signal from each antenna element. Then it forms spatial radiation pattern by combining these signals.

Hybrid Beamforming for Wideband OFDM Dual Function Radar Communications

ICASSP 2021 - 2021 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2021
This paper considers the hybrid beamforming design for wideband OFDM-DFRC system serving multiple users (MUs). The analog beamformer for the whole bandwidth and the digital beamformers for each subcarrier and are jointly optimized by considering flexible performance trade-off between the radar and communication.

Decentralized Beamforming for Multicell System Based on Internal Penalty Function

2014 IEEE 79th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2014
In this paper, an iterative algorithm for decentralized beamforming with internal penalty function is proposed. This algorithm utilizes the property that a stationary point corresponding to local maximum of the objective function is found when gradient is zero. The convergence of the proposed algorithm is proved.

Estimation of target density functions via range–angle beamforming

The Imaging Science Journal, 2009
AbstractThis paper considers estimation of target density functions in 'range–angle' coordinates using two beamforming techniques. The distribution of the target densities in range–angle coordinates is estimated utilizing several transmitted beamforms.
