Performance Study of the MVDR Beamformer as a Function of the Source Incidence Angle

IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing, 2014
Linear microphone arrays combined with the minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) beamformer have been widely studied in various applications to acquire desired signals and reduce the unwanted noise. Most of the existing array systems assume that the desired sources are in the broadside direction.

Genetic Algorithm-Based Beamforming Using Power Pattern Function

2019
To solve the beamforming problems of small-scale array, this paper describes a new method using power pattern function and genetic algorithm. Compared with the traditional antenna beamforming methods which utilize the envelope of the radiation pattern, this method can control all the sidelobes quantitatively and form the desired array pattern.

Uplink Signaling and Receive Beamforming for Dual-Function Radar Communications

2018 IEEE 19th International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC), 2018
Current techniques for dual-function radar-communications (DFRC) have been focused on downlink communication and information embedding into the emission of the radar system. In this paper, we consider the problem of half-duplex uplink communications in dual-function multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar communication systems.

Representation of external ear transfer function via a beamforming model

[Proceedings] ICASSP 91: 1991 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1991
The modeling of the behavior of the external ear with a beamformer is proposed. The output of a beamformer is a weighted combination of the data received at any array of spatially distributed sensors. The beamformer weights and array geometry determine its spatial and temporal filtering characteristics.

The design of multi-dimensional acoustic beamformers via window functions

Digital Signal Processing, 2014
Abstract The design of broadband beamformers can be formulated as a semi-infinite programming optimization problem, where the coefficients of the filters are determined such that the actual response of the microphone array is near a given desired response.

The Intrinsic Mode Function Time Delay Method for beamforming

2012 Oceans, 2012
This paper presents the Intrinsic Mode Function Time Delay Method (IMFTDM) which is based on Hilbert Huang Transform (HHT) and its application in beamforming. The IMFTDM can delay the broadband Intrinsic Mode Function (IMF) by arbitrary time accurately.
