The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Localization and Diagonalization: A review of functional integral techniques for low-dimensional gauge theories and topological field theories

open access: yes, 1995
We review localization techniques for functional integrals which have recently been used to perform calculations in and gain insight into the structure of certain topological field theories and low-dimensional gauge theories.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Direct phase-compensation method of piezoelectric resonant MEMS scanners through control of driving signal phase and duty cycle

open access: yesApplied Physics Express
Piezoelectric actuators are integral to microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) scanners, but phase errors can impair laser scanning accuracy. This study addresses these errors through direct compensation methods, eliminating the need for embedded phase ...

Integrated Shock Absorber With Both Tunable Inertance and Damping

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2020
Inerter is a two-terminal mass element, and the applied force is proportional to the relative acceleration between the terminals. According to the second class of mechanical–electrical analogy, the inerter corresponds exactly to the capacitor in the ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The Potentials of Integration in the Historical Khan of Al-Exandria-Babylon

open access: yesCivil and Environmental Engineering
Contemporary trends focus on exploiting the value of historical buildings and actively involving them in urban development projects, The integration policy is a middle ground between preserving the building as it is and demolition and removal, that is ...
