Structural equation modeling using the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling algorithm (PLS-SEM) is a statistical technique that has gained attention recently due to its flexibility and predictive power.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Onsager principle for nonlinear mechanical systems modeled by stochastic dissipative equations

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2012
A classical mechanical system subjected to frictional forces is considered in the limit of large frictional coefficient. Random white noise is also introduced in conformity to the fluctuation-dissipation theorem.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Functional integration and abelian link invariants

open access: yes, 2010
The functional integral computation of the various topological invariants, which are associated with the Chern-Simons field theory, is considered. The standard perturbative setting in quantum field theory is rewieved and new developments in the path ...

A fully integrated high-Q Whispering-Gallery Wedge Resonator

open access: yes, 2012
Microresonator devices which posses ultra-high quality factors are essential for fundamental investigations and applications. Microsphere and microtoroid resonators support remarkably high Q's at optical frequencies, while planarity constrains preclude ...

Functional integration over geometries [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Physics, 1995
The geometric construction of the functional integral over coset spaces ℳ/𝒢 is reviewed. The inner product on the cotangent space of infinitesimal deformations of ℳ defines an invariant distance and volume form, or functional integration measure on the full configuration space.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Gradient Bounds for Solutions of Stochastic Differential Equations Driven by Fractional Brownian Motions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We study some functional inequalities satisfied by the distribution of the solution of a stochastic differential equation driven by fractional Brownian motions.
