The accumulation of myeloid‐derived suppressor cells participates in abdominal infection‐induced tumor progression through the PD‐L1/PD‐1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores how sepsis affects GC progression by creating an immunosuppressive environment. Our findings reveal that sepsis promotes immune dysregulation, enhancing tumor growth and metastasis. Targeting the PD‐1/PD‐L1 pathway with monoclonal antibodies shows potential for restoring immune function and improving outcomes in cancer patients ...

Adding Real-time Capabilities to a SML Compiler

open access: yes, 2016
There has been much recent interest in adopting functional and reactive programming for use in real-time system design. Moving toward a more declarative methodology for developing real-time systems purports to improve the fidelity of software.

Tangible functional programming [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 12th ACM SIGPLAN international conference on Functional programming, 2007
We present a user-friendly approach to unifying program creation and execution, based on a notion of "tangible values" ( TVs ), which are visual and interactive manifestations of pure values, including functions. Programming happens by gestural composition of TVs.

Cons-free Programming with Immutable Functions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
We investigate the power of non-determinism in purely functional programming languages with higher-order types. Specifically, we set out to characterise the hierarchy NP $\subseteq$ NEXP $\subseteq$ NEXP$^{(2)}$ $\subseteq \cdots \subseteq$ NEXP$^{(k)}$ $\subseteq \cdots$ solely in terms of higher-typed, purely functional programs. Although the work is

The PTTG1/VASP axis promotes oral squamous cell carcinoma metastasis by modulating focal adhesion and actin filaments

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
VASP was found to be overexpressed in metastatic oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) tissues. Notably, PTTG1‐ and VASP‐deficient OSCC cells demonstrated suppressed metastatic properties by disrupting the interaction between the cytoskeleton and focal adhesion (FAs) in the filopodia region.

Influence of Birth Weight on the Renal Development and Kidney Diseases in Adulthood: Experimental and Clinical Evidence

open access: yesInternational Journal of Nephrology, 2012
Several clinical and experimental studies support the hypothesis that foetal programming is an important determinant of nephropathy, hypertension, coronary heart disease, and type 2 diabetes during adulthood.

An experimental study on performance portability of OpenCL kernels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Accelerator processors allow energy-efficient computation at high performance, especially for computationintensive applications. There exists a plethora of different accelerator architectures, such as GPUs and the Cell Broadband Engine.

Addressing persistent challenges in digital image analysis of cancer tissue: resources developed from a hackathon

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

Optimization under fuzzy rule constraints [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Suppose we are given a mathematical programming problem in which the functional relationship between the decision variables and the objective function is not completely known.
