CRT Implantation in a Patient with Congenital Heart Malformation
Treatment of patients with functional single-ventricle physiology is achieved using surgical corrections known as the “Fontan Procedure”. Two separate blood circulations are created from the single-ventricle function.

The Pulmonary Circulation in the Single Ventricle Patient
In recent decades, survival of children with complex congenital heart disease has improved considerably. Specifically, children with a variety of congenital heart defects resulting in ‘single ventricle’ physiology can now undergo palliative surgery that ...

Functional single ventricle: Cardiorespiratory response to exercise
The cardiorespiratory response to exercise was measured in 27 children with functional single ventricle. All 27 patients had a significant reduction in exercise time, work performed, maximal exercise heart rate, maximal oxygen uptake and systemic arterial blood oxygen saturation.

Preoperative single ventricle function determines early outcome after second-stage palliation of single ventricle heart [PDF]
Second-stage palliation with hemi-Fontan or bidirectional Glenn procedures has improved the outcomes of patients treated for single-ventricle heart disease. The aim of this study was to retrospectively analyze risk factors for death after second-stage palliation of single-ventricle heart and to compare therapeutic results achieved with the hemi-Fontan ...
