Application of Perfusion Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography of the Myocardium in Pain-Free Myocardial Ischemia

open access: yesАрхивъ внутренней медицины, 2020
This literature review provides data on the use of single-photon emission computed tomography of myocardium in silent myocardial ischemia. The presence of silent myocardial ischemia increases the risk of cardiovascular complications several times and may

Ventricular function of single ventricle after ventricular septation. [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 1980
SUMMARY In this report we describe the follow–up of two patients who underwent total correction (ventricular septation) of a Van Praagh type C single ventricle. At the time of this report the patients are 93 and 37 months after operation, have led a normal life and have nearly normal hemodynamics.

Choroid Plexus Enlargement and USPIO‐Based Inflammatory Feature in Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The choroid plexus (CP) is a key component of the blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB), but its mechanism of action in cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) remains unclear. This study investigated CP volume (CPV) alterations and their association with conventional imaging markers in CSVD and explored the underlying role of ...

Added Prognostic Value of EEG Reactivity in Comatose Patients Following Cardiac Arrest

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the added prognostic value of EEG reactivity for favorable outcome compared with background analysis during and after targeted temperature management (TTM). Methods Prospective observational cohort study of comatose post–cardiac arrest patients admitted to a single academic center between 2017 and 2022, all undergoing ...

White Matter Hyperintensity Burden and Short‐Interval Change Associated With Sleep Apnoea in the UK Biobank

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Purpose White matter hyperintensities (WMH) are a core neuroimaging marker of cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD). Sleep apnoea (SA) is a recognized vascular risk factor, but its associations with regional WMH burden, short‐interval WMH change and cognitive performance in population‐based cohorts remain incompletely defined. We

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.

Metabolic and Microvascular Risk Factors Associated With Brain Health in Type 1 Diabetes

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We examined relationships between metabolic factors, microvascular complications, and brain health in adults with type 1 diabetes. Fifty‐one adults were assessed for metabolic risk factors, microvascular complications, and cognitive function, with a subset completing brain MRI.

Living with a univentricular heart: the journey of surviving on borrowed time

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders
Background A univentricular heart is a rare congenital heart defect usually diagnosed prenatelly or at the time of birth. Early intervention and continuous monitoring are crucial, especially when the condition is diagnosed later in life.

Ascending aortic dilation and aortic regurgitation — a neglected problem among single-ventricle patients after Fontan palliation

open access: yesCardiology Journal
BACKGROUND: The Fontan procedure revolutionized the management of univentricular heart physiology but is associated with long-term complications. Although pulmonary vascular disease, atrioventricular valve regurgitation, and ventricular dysfunction are ...
