Representing Risk Preferences in Expected Utility Based Decision Models

open access: yes
The application and estimation of expected utility based decision models would benefit from having additional simple and flexible functional forms to represent risk preferences.

On simple concrete giffen utility functions : old and new results

open access: yes, 2009
The authors present a theoretical review of the literature on simple concrete continuous utility functions for Giffen and inferior goods within the context of the utility maximisation problem under a budget restriction and provide new functional forms ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Rank Dependent Utility, Tax Evasion and Labor Supply [PDF]

open access: yes
In the simple Allingham-Sandmo portfolio model of tax evasion an expected utility maximizer will cheat more than what is estimated in empirical studies.

BUDGETARY CLASSIFICATIONS’ ROLE IN PUBLIC FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the University of Oradea: Economic Science, 2010
Budgetary classifications are a vital condition for a sound budgetary management. To be a good and useful classification, some rules should be respected. The international experience could offer us guiding lines which contribute to this purpose.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

STOCHASTIC EFFICIENCY ANALYSIS USING MULTIPLE UTILITY FUNCTIONS

open access: yes
Evaluating the risk of a particular decision depends on the risk aversion of the decision maker related to the underlying utility function. The objective of this paper is to use stochastic efficiency with respect to a function (SERF) to compare the ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

CLASSIFICATION OF RISK PREFERENCES WITH ELICITED UTILITY DATA: DOES FUNCTIONAL FORM MATTER?

open access: yes
Recently, several problems with elicited utility functions have emerged. This paper concerns a fundamental problem in risk preference classification with elicited data.
