Prospecting the protein design landscape

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review outlines the current state of various protein design approaches. We discuss the current possibilities enabled by recently released tools, highlight future avenues to pursue in protein design, and underscore the crucial role of key databases and resources for successful protein design workflows.

Oxytocin pathway gene variation and corticostriatal resting-state functional connectivity

open access: yesComprehensive Psychoneuroendocrinology
Genetic variations in single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) within oxytocin pathway genes have been linked to social behavior and neurodevelopmental conditions. However, the neurobiological mechanisms underlying these associations remain elusive.

Genomic and Functional Variation at a Normal Human Centromere

open access: yes, 2015
Centromeres are chromosomal loci essential for genome stability. Their malfunction can cause chromosome instability associated with cancer, infertility, and birth defects.

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.

Study on the variation of functional traits and environmental driving factors of different species origins of Acer truncatum in the Horqin Sandy Land

open access: yesXibei zhiwu xuebao
[Objective] The study of the functional trait variation and environmental drivers of woody oilseed plants in different origins is of great significance for the construction of core breeding populations and the selection of improved seeds.

RNA‐related functions of BRCA2 in transcription, replication, and genome stability

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in homologous recombination, BRCA2 regulates R‐loop homeostasis, DNA–RNA hybrid resolution, RNA polymerase II dynamics, and transcriptional activation. Disruption of any of these functions can contribute to genome instability, inflammatory signaling, and tumorigenesis. BRCA2 is a central tumor suppressor protein best known for its roles

Contrasting drivers of community-level trait variation for vascular plants, lichens and bryophytes across an elevational gradient [Elektronisk resurs]

open access: yes, 2019
1. Across environmental gradients, community-level functional traits of plants can change due to species turnover, intraspecific variation and their covariation.
