Structures of Ideological Systems Programming. The Case of Sustainability in Prices
ABSTRACT This paper aims to demonstrate Niklas Luhmann's systems theory and its concept of ideologies as a general framework for analysing the actual implementation of normative ideas in modern society. Using the example of sustainable pricing within the economic system, it shows how values can be established at the programmatic level of function ...

On Symmetric Functions and Symmetric Functions of Symmetric Functions
The study of symmetric functions is quite an old one. From the time of Girard (1629) even up to the present day this sub. ject has occupied the attention of many eminent mathematicians. The theory of the roots of algebraic equations in one or more variables has furnished the chief incentive for the development of the theory of symmetric functions ...

From Particle to Purpose: A Systems‐Theoretical Model of Unity and Coherent Adaptation
ABSTRACT This paper develops a conceptual integration that bridges classical systems theories with insights from the Islamic intellectual tradition, focusing on the notion of zerre (particle) as articulated by Said Nursî. We reinterpret zerre as a systems‐theoretical agent that exhibits lawful responsiveness without autonomy, offering a new lens on how

The summatory function of the Möbius function in function fields [PDF]
We study the growth rate of the summatory function of the Möbius function in the context of an algebraic curve over a finite field. Our work shows a strong resemblance to its number field counterpart, which was proved by Ng in 2004. We find an expression for a bound of the summatory function, which becomes sharp when the zeta zeros of the curve satisfy

Concrete in architecture: Redefining form, space, function, and insights from bibliometric analysis
Abstract Concrete has become a cornerstone in architectural and engineering innovation, as it seamlessly integrates structural performance with artistic expression. Its evolution from ancient opus caementicium to contemporary ultra‐high‐performance concrete illustrates its adaptability to the change in technological, environmental, and design paradigms.

How to Make a Functionalist Argument
Sociologists have an awkward relationship with functionalist explanations. Despite having declared “functionalism” to be obsolete, some form of functionalist argument still remains cryptically present in much substantive research.

Land and Water Pedagogy in TESOL: Centering Indigenous Knowledges
Abstract The intersection of English Language Teaching (ELT), TESOL, and Indigenous knowledges is an important yet often neglected area of inquiry. This paper explores the importance of including Indigenous knowledges – specifically land and water pedagogies – in ELT, TESOL, and broader language education practices. Through duoethnographic inquiry, we –

Phonology in axiomatic functionalism
In a paper published in this journal (Bican 2006) I introduced readers to a linguistic approach developed by Jan W. F. Mulder and Sandor G. J. Hervey and known as Axiomatic Functionalism (henceforth: AF); I made a presentation of one of its components ...
