A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

An Appraisal of the Model Business Corporation Act’s Appraisal Rights Provisions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Siegel examines four fundamental differences between the Delaware General Corporation Law and the Model Business Corporation Act (MBCA). In the area of shareholder appraisal rights, the two statutes are diametrically opposed on many key elements.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Detention as a violation of the fundamental right to protection

open access: yesНауково-інформаційний вісник Івано-Франківського університету права імені Короля Данила Галицького
Purpose. The purpose of the work is to study the current legislation that violates a person’s fundamental right to protection when the preventive measure of detention is chosen for him. Method.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Dignity in Employment – the Protection of a Fundamental Right

open access: yesEIRP Proceedings, 2014
The new Criminal Code brought a series of important changes also in respect to those offences that can be committed by employees. Both at the European and at the national level, the concept of dignity in employment suffered transformations. This change

Asymptotic Dimension of Graphs of Groups and One Relator Groups

open access: yes, 2020
We prove a new inequality for the asymptotic dimension of HNN-extensions. We deduce that the asymptotic dimension of every finitely generated one relator group is at most two, confirming a conjecture of A.Dranishnikov. As further corollaries we calculate

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.
