Large‐scale whole‐exome sequencing in 356,982 UK Biobank participants defines the protein‐coding architecture of retinal structure, visual function, and major blinding diseases. Pleiotropic genes, including CFI, C3, and RIOX1, bridge multiple retinal phenotypes, while experimental validation of FYB2 implicates RPE barrier dysfunction, providing ...

MULTIMODAL FUNDUS IMAGING OF PSEUDOXANTHOMA ELASTICUM
PURPOSE: To investigate spectral domain optical coherence tomography and autofluorescence findings in eyes with pseudoxanthoma elasticum. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of visual acuity, spectral domain optical coherence tomography, and autofluorescence findings of consecutive patients with pseudoxanthoma elasticum was performed. The spectral domain

A Population-Based Ultra-Widefield Digital Image Grading Study for Age-Related Macular Degeneration-Like Lesions at the Peripheral Retina. [PDF]
Our understanding of the relevance of peripheral retinal abnormalities to disease in general and in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in particular is limited by the lack of detailed peripheral imaging studies.

A cationic poly(disulfide)‐drug nanoplatform (LA/DexP) was developed to treat experimental autoimmune uveitis (EAU). With potent blood‐retinal barrier penetrability, LA/DexP releases DSP in response to high ROS and scavenges cfDNA to inhibit the cGAS‐STING signaling pathway.

A rare de novo IFT122‐A773E variant is identified in idiopathic pediatric uveitis and shown to exacerbate retinal inflammation and barrier dysfunction. Mechanistically, the variant enhances IFT43 interaction, elevates calcium signaling, and activates the MEK/ERK/FRA1 axis, revealing a previously unrecognized cilia‐associated pathway that may increase ...

Automatic Detection of Microaneurysms in Fundus Images
Early detection and treatment of diabetic retinopathy can delay blindness and improve quality of life for diabetic patients. It is difficult to detect early symptoms of diabetic retinopathy, which is presented by few microaneurysms in fundus images. This study proposes an algorithm to detect microaneurysms in fundus images automatically.
