The case history of a patient manifesting this rare reaction is presented and discussed. Comments are also made on the relevant psychiatric literature.

Abstract Today Tchaikovsky’s funeral was held. A funeral is a sad ceremony, but when it is performed so majestically, so solemnly as it was today, this sadness is made somewhat less evident; this scene of universal respect for the deceased offers us the consolation that the life and labours of a man do not pass without leaving a trace.
