Impact of metal pollution on fungal diversity and community structures

Environmental Microbiology, 2014
Summary The impact of metal pollution on plant communities has been studied extensively in the past, but little is known about the effects of metal pollution on fungal communities that occur in metal‐polluted soils. Metal‐tolerant ecotypes of the ectomycorrhizal fungus S

Fungal community structure in some alpine soils

Canadian Journal of Botany, 1979
The community structure and interactions among the soil microfungi of three alpine sites were investigated using a factor analytical method. The sites were distributed along an elevation gradient, and the diversity and evenness of allotment of species were inversely related to altitude.

Changes in Soil Fungal Community Structure with Increasing Disturbance Frequency

Microbial Ecology, 2017
Although disturbance is thought to be important in many ecological processes, responses of fungal communities to soil disturbance have been little studied experimentally. We subjected a soil microcosm to physical disturbance, at a range of frequencies designed to simulate ecological disturbance events.

Structure of Fungal Communities

1995
Saprophytic fungi have evolved to exploit every possible habitat on earth, wherever degradable organic matter exists. Fungi occupy terrestrial and aquatic environments (both marine and freshwater) in tropical, temperate and polar regions. There are fungi characteristic of forests, pastures, heaths and bogs, and within these habitats fungi form distinct

Changes in structure and function of fungal community in cow manure composting

Bioresource Technology, 2018
In this study, dynamic changes in fungal communities, trophic modes and effect factors in 60 days composting of cow manure were analyzed by using high throughput sequencing, FUNGuild and Biolog FF MicroPlate, respectively. Orpinomyces (relative abundance >10.85%) predominated in feedstock, and Mycothermus became the dominating genus (relative abundance

Seasonal variation of aerosol fungal community structure in reed constructed wetlands

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2021
In recent years, the impact of biological aerosols produced by sewage treatment plants on air quality and human health has become a hot spot of concern. Airborne fungi were characterized via KC-1000 large-flow air sampler and Anderson-type six-stage sampler, at free surface flowing reed constructed wetland located in Qingdao City, Shandong Province ...

Diversity and Structure of Fungal Communities in Neotropical Rainforest Soils: The Effect of Host Recurrence

Microbial Ecology, 2016
The patterns of the distribution of fungal species and their potential interactions with trees remain understudied in Neotropical rainforests, which harbor more than 16,000 tree species, mostly dominated by endomycorrhizal trees. Our hypothesis was that tree species shape the non-mycorrhizal fungal assemblages in soil and litter and that the diversity ...

Phylogenetic structure of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal communities along an elevation gradient

Mycorrhiza, 2016
Despite the importance of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi within terrestrial ecosystems, we know little about how natural AM fungal communities are structured. To date, the majority of studies examining AM fungal community diversity have focused on single habitats with similar environmental conditions, with relatively few studies having assessed the ...

Effects of mineral substrate on ectomycorrhizal fungal colonization and bacterial community structure

Science of The Total Environment, 2020
Ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi can promote the nutrient uptake of plants from soil minerals by bioweathering. However, effects of different minerals on ECM fungal colonization and bacterial community structures in the soil remains poorly documented. Here, we investigated ECM fungal composition and bacterial communities in different mineral-filled mesh ...
