Repurposing Cardiac Glycosides to Potentiate CD47 Blockade through Calreticulin‐mediated Phagocytic Effects for Lung Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Repurposing cardiac glycosides (CGs) significantly strengthens the efficacy of anti‐CD47 antibody for lung cancer treatment by boosting macrophage phagocytosis. This novel combination blocks the “don't eat me” signal and increases dual “eat‐me” signals, Fc‐FcγR and cell surface expression of calreticulin (ecto‐CRT).

Material‐to‐Application Integration: Rapid Fabrication of Field‐Deployable Hydrogel‐SiO2 DNA Separator for Low‐Resource Point‐of‐Care Diagnostics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rapidly fabricated hydrogel‐SiO2 composite enables ultralow‐cost, equipment‐minimized DNA extraction, outperforming commercial kits. Hierarchical microstructures enhance hydrophobic/salt‐bridge‐driven adsorption. Integrated with visual LAMP, this field‐deployable system detects Vibrio parahaemolyticus at 10 CFU mL−1 in <40 min, offering ...

A diagnostic dilemma of autoimmune polyendocrinopathy candidiasis ectodermal dystrophy syndrome

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dermatopathology and Diagnostic Dermatology
Autoimmune polyendocrinopathy candidiasis ectodermal dystrophy (APCED) syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive syndrome. There is a loss of function mutation in the autoimmune regulator (AIRE) gene.

MoMtg1 Acts as a Novel Transcriptional Repressor of MoSwi6 During Appressorium‐Mediated Penetration in the Rice Blast Fungus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Appressoria are specialized penetration structures for many plant pathogenic fungi, demanding precise cell cycle control. This study unveils MoMtg1 as a transcriptional repressor of MoSwi6, orchestrating MoCYC1 expression during turgor‐driven cell cycle progression to enable appressorium‐mediated penetration. Moreover, a small‐molecule inhibitor ZS1619

Identification of a Pair of Linear or Cyclic Naturally Inspired Bifunctional Lipopeptide Antibiotics That Overcome Antimicrobial Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The underexplored bacterial genus Aquimarina harbors a large biosynthetic potential for discovering new antibiotics. Here, the authors identify a pair of linear or cyclic bifunctional cationic lipopeptide antibiotics, aquicidine L and C4, inspired by the aquicidine gene cluster from Aquimarina.

Clinical Diagnosis and Laboratory Testing of Abnormal Appearing Toenails: A Retrospective Assessment of Confirmatory Testing for Onychomycosis in the United States, 2022–2023

open access: yesJournal of Fungi
Onychomycosis is an under-recognized healthcare burden. Despite the risk of misdiagnosis, confirmatory laboratory testing is under-utilized. Histopathologic examination with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is currently the most effective diagnostic ...
