Pigmented Plaque Presentation of Dematiaceous Fungal Keratitis
Cornea, 2004To evaluate the clinical, microbiologic, and histopathologic features of dematiaceous fungal keratitis cases presenting with pigmented, raised, plaque-like infiltrate.Consecutive case series.Microbiology-proven cases of fungal keratitis presenting with a pigmented infiltrate were included in the study. A detailed clinical and microbiological evaluation

Enzymatic degradation of fungal pigmentation from wall painting’s isolates
Color Research & Application, 2016AbstractEnzymatic discolouration of extracellular pigments produced in liquid media by a selected fungal isolate from Portuguese mural paintings was attempted both in solution and on solid support. A promising versatile peroxidase from Bjerkandera adusta was tested and presented interesting discolouration ability, although smaller than the values ...

Biosynthesis and Stereochemistry of Phlegmacin‐Type Fungal Pigments
European Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2004AbstractThe absolute stereostructures of phlegmacins A1 (3a) and B1 (3b) were determined by biosynthetic studies, quantum chemical CD calculations, and NOE experiments. In Cortinarius odorifer these compounds are formed by regioselective oxidative dimerization of (R)‐torosachrysone (R‐2). (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany,

[Antioxidant features of fungal melanin pigments].
Prikladnaia biokhimiia i mikrobiologiia, 2001Fungal melanin pigments were shown to display a high antioxidant activity. An increase in the number of methyl substituents in benzidine molecules of melanins obtained from micromycetes and macromycetes was accompanied by a decrease in the efficiency of inhibition of peroxidase-catalyzed oxidation.

Fungal metabolites. III. The synthesis of a derivative of a 1,4-naphthoquinone fungal pigment
Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1974The synthesis of 2-acetonyl-3-hydroxy-5,7-dimethoxy-1,4-naphthoquinone, the 5-methoxy derivative of a pigment obtained from Cylindrocarpon sp. C.M.I. 127996, is described.
