Soil nutrient enrichment induces the trade‐offs between bacterial functional potential and growth‐rate potential. Such trade‐offs favor specific plant‐beneficial species and genes, playing a pivotal role in determining plant productivity. These findings enhance the understanding of the microbial responses in agroecosystems to ongoing global ...

Tooth decay progression transforms the dental pulp response from repair to fibrosis. At early stages, stromal cells reprogram to repair the extra cellular matrix (ECM), blood vessels, and nerves, remodel and grow, keeping repair possible. In advanced decay, hypoxia, and vessel regression, in complement with an immune switch, fuel nerve degeneration and

Molecular Insights into Fungal Glycosylphosphatidylinositol Transamidase Complex
The glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) biosynthesis pathway is critical for antifungal drug development. This study reports three cryo‐electron microscopy structures of fungal GPI transamidase (GPIT), captured in two substrate‐bound states and a novel dimeric assembly.

Group‐specific component protein (GC) promotes perineural invasion (PNI) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) by activating Schwann cell dedifferentiation and by enhancing tumor–Schwann cell chemoattraction, independently of vitamin D transport. Integrin β1 (ITGB1) functions as a GC receptor in both cancer cells and Schwann cells.

Dual Disruption of the Immune Cytokine Spätzle Facilitates Fungal Infection of Diverse Insect Hosts
The Toll pathway is essential for insect defense against fungal pathogens. This works reports that fungal parasites employ two divergent virulent effectors to target the Toll receptor ligand Spätzle: a metalloprotease degrading it and a hairpin‐like effector hijacking it to block signal transduction. This dual strategy enables the fungus to kill a wide
