Controller Synthesis against Omega-Regular Specifications: A Funnel-based Control Approach

International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2023
The paper focuses on the problem of formal synthesis of controllers for control-affine nonlinear systems against complex properties. Our goal is to design a closed-form control policy that guarantees the satisfaction of complex properties that are expressed using ( ω)-regular languages and equivalently recognized by Non-deterministic Büchi Automata ...

Analogue Implementation of the Funnel Controller

PAMM, 2006
AbstractIn many tracking control problems, pre‐specified bounds for the evolution of the tracking error should be met. The ‘funnel controller’ addresses this requirement and guarantees transient performance for a fairly large class of systems. In addition, only structural assumptions on the underlying system are made; the exact knowledge of the system ...

Enhanced funnel-control with improved performance

2007 Mediterranean Conference on Control & Automation, 2007
This paper presents three methods to enhance a recent time-varying adaptive control strategy - funnel-control. The proportional time-varying controller is capable to control a wide range of nonlinear systems with e.g. hysteresis or dead time effects. The gain is adjusted by weighting the distance between the actual control error and the predefinable ...

Funnel control for overhead crane model

PAMM, 2018
AbstractWe consider an overhead crane whose control variables are the length of the rope and force/velocity at the gantry. The output consists of the position of the load. The objective is to design a closed‐loop tracking controller which also takes into account the transient behavior. First we show that this system has no well‐defined relative degree,

Funnel control for wind turbine systems

2014 IEEE Conference on Control Applications (CCA), 2014
We discuss the application of funnel control for speed control of wind turbine systems. It is shown that the (simplified) dynamics of the mechanical system of wind turbines are element of the class of minimum-phase systems with relative degree one and known (here negative) sign of the high-frequency gain.

Funnel control of higher relative degree systems

2017 American Control Conference (ACC), 2017
We propose a new algorithm for controlling the transient behavior of the tracking error for higher relative degree systems. When considering problems of tracking, controlling the transient behavior of the error is more important when compared to its derivatives.
