Synthesis of Bifunctional Furano-Allocolchicinoids

Synthesis, 2017
An efficient seven-step semisynthetic approach towards non-racemic bifunctional furano-allocolchicinoids, starting from naturally occurring colchicine is presented. The Pd-catalyzed domino Sonogashira coupling/5-endo-dig cyclization was employed as the key step. The prepared compounds exhibited substantial cytotoxicity against T3M4, MiaPaCa-2, Colo-357,

The Use of Naphthoquinones and Furano-naphthoquinones as Antiinvasive Agents

Current Medicinal Chemistry, 2019
Background: Cancer is a leading cause of mortality in the world and metastasis is to blame. A number of naphthoquinones (NQs) have shown ability to reduce cancer stemness and metastatic potential. Furano-naphthoquinones (FNQs), which is a class of NQ characterized by the incorporation of an additional furan ring, have demonstrated improved anti ...

First Occurrence of a Furano‐glycyrrhetinoate and Its Cytotoxicity

Archiv der Pharmazie, 2015
(18α)‐Glycyrrhetinic acid (4) was prepared from (18β)‐glycyrrhetinic acid (1), and the cytotoxicity of some derivatives was investigated by photometric SRB assays employing several human tumor cell lines. In summary, (18β)‐1 is slightly more cytotoxic than its (18α) epimer 4, but its cytotoxicity is negligible.

Crystallization and Polymorphism of Poly(ethylene furanoate)

Crystal Growth & Design, 2015
In this work we report the observation of two different crystalline patterns of poly(ethylene furanoate) (PEF), corresponding to bulk and solvent induced crystallization. The crystal form generated by bulk crystallization is the α-form, while that observed after solvent crystallization is the β-form.
