Fusarium wilt of banana: biology, epidemiology and management
International Journal of Pest Management, 2015Fusarium oxysporum is a soil borne hyphomycete that causes vascular wilts in several crop plants. A variety of remedial measures such as the use of fungicides, soil amendments and biological antagonists have proved insufficient in controlling F. oxysporum.

Preference of Cosmopolites sordidus for fusarium wilt‐diseased banana plants
Journal of Applied Entomology, 2022AbstractThe objective of this study was to understand the role of Cosmopolites sordidus in the dispersal of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense race 1 (Foc) and more specifically to determine whether C. sordidus is preferentially attracted to Foc‐contaminated banana plant material vs. Foc‐free material. The attraction of C.

Fusarium wilt of banana in Australia: a review
Australian Journal of Agricultural Research, 1996The history of Fusarium wilt of bananas (caused by F. oxysporum f.sp. cubense) and the research conducted on the disease in Australia is summarised in this review. Subjects covered include the classification of banana cultivars, the cultivars in production in the Australian banana industry, the distribution and diversity of the pathogen in Australia ...

First Report of Fusarium kalimantanense Causing Fusarium Wilt on Banana Tree in Brazil
Plant Disease, 2023Banana (Musa spp.) is the second most-consumed fruit in Brazil, the fourth-largest producer globally, with 7 million tons in 2021 (IBGE 2021). Studies about the morphological and pathogenic characteristics revealed that the etiology of Fusarium wilt in banana cultivars in Brazil had been related to the Fusarium oxysporum f. sp.

Host-pathogen relationships of Fusarium wilt of bananas
2021This thesis is concerned with a new race of the banana wilt pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense (FOC) which has the ability to infect Cavendish cultivars (Musa sp. ) previously resistant to all known races of the fungus. The purpose of this study was to gain more knowledge of the population biology of the fungus and to develop a reliable growth ...

INTEGRATED CONTROL OF FUSARIUM WILT OF BANANA (MUSA SPP.)
Acta Horticulturae, 2010The global importance of Fusarium wilt of banana (Musa spp.) has been widely documented. The lack of viable control options, and its significance to the livelihood of millions of people around the world, makes it particularly important. In the absence of a single effective control method, control efforts are moving towards the integration of multiple ...

STUDIES ON FUSARIUM WILT OF BANANAS: VII. FIELD CONTROL
Canadian Journal of Botany, 1961Flood fallow and silting were the only practices that consistently reduced incidence of banana wilt induced by F. oxysporum f. cubense (E. F. S.) Snyd. and Hans. The efficiency of flood fallow was greatly increased by interflood plowing, and in most locations by postflood fungicide drenches.
