Effect of Designed 3D Reinforcement in Mitigating Machining Damage on CFRP Plates
Effect of Edge Tufting on Surface Quality, Damage, and Mechanical Performance in CFRP Machining: A Comparative Topographical and Structural Analysis. ABSTRACT Composite materials made of carbon fiber‐reinforced epoxy (CFRP) are widely used in aerospace fields due to their high strength‐to‐weight ratio. However, due to low out‐of‐plane resistance, these

Fuselage Crashworthiness Lower Lobe Dynamic Test
Abstract The focus of this paper is to demonstrate the energy absorption capability of the lower lobe section of the aircraft, and to provide test data in support of validation of the LS-DYNA numerical model. Following a national research program, a full scale drop test, of an airliner composite sub cargo floor fuselage, has been performed by the ...

Monitoring wildlife using long‐endurance solar‐electric UAVs
This report discusses the effectiveness of using small solar‐electric UAV (uncrewed aerial vehicles) for aerial wildlife monitoring. We review four years of aerial wildlife monitoring missions using a 5.5‐m wingspan, solar‐electric UAV that was equipped with a gimballed IR/RGB camera.

ASSEMBLY OF THE PRIMARY STRUCTURE OF AN AIRPLANE FUSELAGE
Aeronautic structures and their design have evolved over the years. The fuselage must be resilient, lightweight and able to connect the whole airplane. Also, the fuselage holds cargo transports, luggage and, most important, passengers.

Fuselage Damage Locator System [PDF]
Damaged fuselage can cause a fatal catastrophe that will claim numerous lives. This paper suggests the use of a regular digital camera that can generate JPEG images so as to locate the damaged part of the fuselage. The digital camera takes pictures of the fuselage. The signal processing method of JPEG assumes that the taken image is to a certain extent

Approximate Stability Analysis of Omega‐Stringer Stiffened Composite Panels
ABSTRACT Thin‐walled composite structures are widely used in weight‐critical applications such as aircraft and spacecraft. However, ensuring the stability of such structures under various load cases remains a key challenge in their design and optimization.
