Self-assembly cloning: a rapid construction method for recombinant molecules from multiple fragments

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2011
Enzyme-free cloning (EFC) can rapidly produce an in-frame fusion gene with multiple fragments. To practically apply EFC, we investigated the extent and sequence of complementary staggered overhangs necessary to direct self-assembly of multiple fragments ...

The crystal structure of the Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase BBE22 resolves a long‐standing annotation error

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Uniform recovery of fusion frame structured sparse signals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We consider the problem of recovering fusion frame sparse signals from incomplete measurements. These signals are composed of a small number of nonzero blocks taken from a family of subspaces.

Nighttime traffic object detection via adaptively integrating event and frame domains

open access: yesFundamental Research
Intelligent perception is crucial in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), with vision cameras as critical components. However, traditional RGB cameras exhibit a significant decline in performance when capturing nighttime traffic scenes, limiting ...

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Transcripts enriched in codons that trigger P‐site tRNA‐mediated mRNA decay possess stable mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PTMD codons were first described by Mendel et al. as mediators of an mRNA decay pathway dependent on the human protein CNOT3, homologous to yeast Not5. Our findings confirm that PTMD codons destabilize transcripts; however, unlike in yeast, the human pathway specifically targets and slightly destabilizes primarily stable mRNAs.

A new flow chip in combination with multiphoton microscopy as a protocol for longitudinal 3D imaging of tissue calcification under shear stress

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Miniaturized flow chip platform enabling continuous perfusion and longitudinal multiphoton 3D imaging of vascular smooth muscle cell constructs under physiological flow. Brightfield imaging guides region selection, while CellTracker Green and mRuby‐labeled fetuin‐A visualize cells and mineral deposition, respectively. Magnesium supplementation markedly

Stem cells and the role of ETS transcription factors in the differentiation hierarchy of normal and malignant prostate epithelium

open access: yes, 2017
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer of men in the UK and accounts for a quarter of all new cases. Although treatment of localised cancer can be successful, there is no cure for patients presenting with invasive prostate cancer and there are less ...

Pseudotyping Autographa californica multicapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV): F Proteins from Group II NPVs are functionally analogous to AcMNPV GP64 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
GP64, the major envelope glycoprotein of budded virions of the baculovirus Autographa californica multicapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV), is involved in viral attachment, mediates membrane fusion during virus entry, and is required for efficient ...

LIF-VSR: A Lightweight Framework for Video Super-Resolution with Implicit Alignment and Attentional Fusion

open access: yesSensors
Video super-resolution (VSR) has advanced rapidly in enhancing video quality and restoring compressed content, yet leading methods often remain too costly for real-world use.
