Fuzzy Approximate Solution of Positive Fully Fuzzy Linear Matrix Equations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2013
The fuzzy matrix equations A~⊗X~⊗B~=C~ in which A~, B~, and C~ are m×m, n×n, and m×n nonnegative LR fuzzy numbers matrices, respectively, are investigated.

Syphilis and ‘Sons of Empire’: The ‘Prostitute’ and Britain's Fighting Arm in Nineteenth ̵ Century Colonial Punjab

open access: yesGender &History, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The British army in India took great care to provide European troops with facilities for sexual relations while anxiously managing venereal disease. Examining archival evidence, political debates and medical discourse from the nineteenth century, this article examines the colonial military enterprise of regulated prostitution in colonial ...

High School GPA and Exam Scores: Does Their Relevance for First‐Year Academic Performance Vary With Program Selectivity?

open access: yesBulletin of Economic Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines student admissions to higher education based on past performance, focusing on two measures: high school GPA and national exam scores. GPA is teacher‐assigned and based on repeated assessments, while these exams are externally graded, one‐off standardized tests. Using a nationwide dataset, we investigate how the relevance of

Is an interval the right result of arithmetic operations on intervals?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, 2017
For many scientists interval arithmetic (IA, I arithmetic) seems to be easy and simple. However, this is not true. Interval arithmetic is complicated. This is confirmed by the fact that, for years, new, alternative versions of this arithmetic have been ...

Splatshop: Efficiently Editing Large Gaussian Splat Models

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We present Splatshop, a highly optimized toolbox for interactive editing (selection, deletion, painting, transformation, …) of 3D Gaussian Splatting models. Utilizing a comprehensive collection of heuristic approaches, we carefully balance between exact and fast rendering to enable precise editing without sacrificing real‐time performance. Our

A computational method for fuzzy arithmetic operations

open access: yesDaffodil International University Journal of Science and Technology, 1970
In this paper, a computer implementation to evaluate the arithmetic operations on two fuzzy numbers with linear membership functions has been developed. The fuzzy arithmetic approached by the interval arithmetic is used here. The algorithm of the developed method with a numerical example is also provided.

The Role of Language Dominance in Congruency Effects on Multi‐Word Unit Processing: Evidence From Early Bilinguals

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how the learner‐related factors of language dominance, encompassing language history, proficiency, use, and attitude, modulate congruency effects in multi‐word unit (MWU) processing among early bilinguals. Seventy Cantonese–Putonghua bilinguals completed lexical decision tasks measuring reaction time and accuracy for ...

Computing with words with the use of inverse RDM models of membership functions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, 2015
Computing with words is a way to artificial, human-like thinking. The paper shows some new possibilities of solving difficult problems of computing with words which are offered by relative-distance-measure RDM models of fuzzy membership functions.

A spectral analysis extension to DEMATEL for strategic leverage points identification

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Efforts to intervene in complex systems often emphasize influential factors, yet system behavior is equally shaped by the relationships among them. Methods such as Decision‐Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) map causal structures but remain descriptive and do not identify which relationships provide the greatest leverage for ...

The Development of the Tool for Rating the qUality of Services sTandards (TRUST)

open access: yesJournal of Evidence-Based Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background This study aimed to develop a preliminary framework for the systematic, multi‐dimensional evaluation of service standards, the Tool for Rating the qUality of Service sTandards (TRUST), to address the heterogeneity and quality‐related deficiencies in existing standards and to provide a preliminary evidence‐informed basis for ...
