On Considering Constraints of Different Importance in Fuzzy Constraint Satisfaction Problems
International Journal of Uncertainty, Fuzziness and Knowledge-Based Systems, 1998Several real-world applications (e.g., scheduling, configuration, …) can be formulated as Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSP). In these cases, a set of variables have to be settled to a value with the requirement that they satisfy a set of constraints. Classical CSPs are defined only by means of crisp (Boolean) constraints.

Logical analysis of fuzzy constraint satisfaction problems
1998 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems Proceedings. IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (Cat. No.98CH36228), 2002Fuzzy sets naturally model elastic constraints, the fuzzy constraints satisfaction problem (FCSP) enables the introduction of different kinds of flexibility. Levels of priority can be attached to constraints, and satisfaction levels can be fuzzily thresholded.

A fuzzy constraint satisfaction system for design and manufacturing
Proceedings of IEEE 5th International Fuzzy Systems, 2002We present an interactive constraint satisfaction system for design and manufacturing that supports modeling using fuzzy linguistic variables, terms and operators, fuzzy variables, numbers and operators, and crisp variables, numbers and operators. Constraint propagation is omni-directional and is achieved through value propagation based upon a formal ...

A generic algorithm for fuzzy constraint satisfaction problems
Proceedings Joint 9th IFSA World Congress and 20th NAFIPS International Conference (Cat. No. 01TH8569), 2002In this paper, we present a generic algorithm of solving a fuzzy constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) based on the notion of an adaptive level cut: the essence of our algorithm is to apply local propagation for solving different level-cut CSPs. The task mainly involves repair operations to speed up the fuzzified local propagation by reusing as much of

Automated Negotiation Nased on Prioritised Fuzzy Constraint Satisfaction Problem
2008 Fifth International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery, 2008Automated negotiation is one of the key issues in e-commerce. For the purpose of better expressing Agent's requirement and preference, easier dealing with issues inter-dependence and trade-off, this paper analyze fuzzy constraints' significances to e-commerce negotiation detailedly, then proposed a general automated negotiation model based on ...

FUZZY LINEAR PROGRAMMING WITH GRADES OF SATISFACTION IN CONSTRAINTS
2009We present a new model and a new approach for solving fuzzy linear programming (FLP) problems with various utilities for the satisfaction of the fuzzy constraints. The model, constructed as a multi-objective linear programming problem, provides flexibility for the decision maker (DM), and allows for the assignment of distinct weights to the constraints

A distributed fuzzy constraint satisfaction system with context-based reasoning
International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, 1998This paper presents a fuzzy constraint satisfaction system which can be used in a distributive environment and, through an example, identifies contexts which exist within the constraint satisfaction system. The fuzzy constraint satisfaction system utilizes value propagation on constraints through the use of formal logic and theorem proving.

Fuzzy linear programming with grade of satisfaction in each constraint
Proceedings of 1995 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems. The International Joint Conference of the Fourth IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and The Second International Fuzzy Engineering Symposium, 2002The authors introduce and modify a method for fuzzy linear programming (FLP) in which each constraint has a different grade of satisfaction. The FLP problem dealt with in the paper has fuzzy coefficients in its constraints. The fuzzy constraints can be expressed by four feasibility indices introduced by Dubois (1987) derived from four ranking indices ...

The calculus of fuzzy restrictions as a basis for flexible constraint satisfaction
[Proceedings 1993] Second IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems, 2002The authors propose a unified treatment of prioritized and flexible constraints, both being represented by possibility distributions. An approach based on possibility theory is described for representing and solving such fuzzy constraint satisfaction problems (FCSP) involving both types of constraints.

On Linguistic Fuzzy Constraint Satisfaction Problems
1999Fuzzy constraint satisfaction problems (FCSPs) extend standard (crisp) constraint satisfaction problems (CSPs) by introducing a notion of fuzzy constraints. Fuzzy constraints allow one to express the degrees to which the constraints are satisfied with a given instantiation of constrained variables. The main advantage of FCSPs is flexibility in handling
