Fuzzy constraint satisfaction

Proceedings of 1994 IEEE 3rd International Fuzzy Systems Conference, 2002
In this paper the issue of soft constraint satisfaction is discussed from a fuzzy set theoretical point of view. A fuzzy constraint is considered as a fuzzy relation. Different possible definitions for the degree of joint satisfaction of a set of fuzzy constraints are given, covering other specific soft constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) types such ...

Solving fuzzy constraint satisfaction problems with fuzzy GENET

Proceedings Tenth IEEE International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence (Cat. No.98CH36294), 2002
Constraint satisfaction is well known to be applicable in modeling AI problems. Despite their extensive literature, the framework is sometimes inflexible and the results are not very satisfactory when applied to real-life problems. With the incorporation of the theory of fuzzy sets, fuzzy constraint satisfaction problems (FCSP's) have been exploited ...

Fuzzy Temporal Logic on Fuzzy Temporal Constraint Networks

2009 Sixth International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery, 2009
The aim of this work is to integrate the ideas of flexibility and uncertainty into Allen’s interval-based temporal logic[1], defining a new formalism which extends classical interval Algebra. We refer to fuzzy temporal constraint satisfaction problem, in which constraints are satisfied to a degree, which is based on fuzzy sets.

Fuzzy Constraint-Based Agent Negotiation

Journal of Computer Science and Technology, 2005
Conflicts between two or more parties arise for various reasons and perspectives. Thus, resolution of conflicts frequently relies on some form of negotiation. This paper presents a general problem-solving framework for modeling multi-issue multilateral negotiation using fuzzy constraints.

Fuzzy clustering with structural constraints

Fuzzy Sets and Systems, 1999
Abstract In this paper we propose a generalization of the standard clustering problem, which we call Structural Constrained Clustering (SCC) problem. In SCC problem, the cluster interconnections are given by a binary relation R. If this relation is empty then SCC problem reduces to the standard classification problem. The cluster structure imposed by

ON PROGRAMMING WITH FUZZY CONSTRAINT SETS

Kybernetes, 1977
Two solution concepts for a FMP problem are suggested. The first one makes use of level sets of the fuzzy set of feasible alternatives. The second solution is based on the concept of Pareto maximum in vector optimization. It is shown that both solutions are equivalent in a sense that they give the same fuzzy value of a function maximized.

Solving fuzzy constraint satisfaction problems

Proceedings of 6th International Fuzzy Systems Conference, 2002
Up to date, most of the research on constraint satisfaction has considered crisp constraints. Currently new types of constraints are being considered, allowing for intermediate satisfaction degrees between complete satisfaction and complete violation.

Examination Timetabling with Fuzzy Constraints

2005
The aim of this paper is to consider flexible constraint satisfaction in timetabling problems. The research is carried out in the context of university examination timetabling. Examination timetabling is subject to two types of constraints: hard constraints that must not be violated, and soft constraints that often have to be violated to some extent ...
