The role of venture‐financed startups in innovation for US agriculture
Abstract To evaluate the role played by startup companies in the innovation ecosystem of US agriculture, we compile a unique dataset of 6024 new entrants founded 1987–2019 that details their financing lifecycles, annual economic performance, and patenting activities.

POEMS Syndrome: 2026 Update on Diagnosis, Risk‐Stratification, and Management
ABSTRACT Disease Overview POEMS syndrome is a life‐threatening syndrome due to an underlying plasma cell neoplasm. The major criteria for the syndrome are polyneuropathy, clonal plasma cell disorder (PCD), sclerotic bone lesions, elevated vascular endothelial growth factor, and the presence of Castleman disease.

Streamlining Diagnosis of Bardet–Biedl Syndrome: New Diagnostic Algorithm With Updated Criteria
ABSTRACT Considerable advances have been made in our understanding of Bardet–Biedl syndrome (BBS), particularly in its core clinical features and molecular genetics, warranting an update to the existing diagnostic criteria framework. Using a rigorous, evidence‐based, and consensus‐driven process, a multidisciplinary group of international experts and ...

A fuzzy expert database system
Data & Knowledge Engineering, 1989Abstract Fuzzy concepts always exist in much of human reasoning as well as decision making. This paper presents a fuzzy expert database system which is an integration of a fuzzy expert system building tool called SYSTEM Z-II and a database management system called Rdb/VMS.

Proceedings Sixth International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence. TAI 94, 2002
For developing fuzzy control systems and fuzzy expert systems, we have several shells. We describe two shells for expert systems, FPS (Fuzzy Production System) developed by the authors and FINEST (Fuzzy Inference Environment Software with Tuning) being developed in LIFE (Laboratory for International Fuzzy Engineering Research).

Fuzzy concepts in expert systems
Computer, 1988The authors present a comprehensive expert-system building tool, called System Z-II, that can deal with exact, fuzzy (or inexact), and combined reasoning, allowing fuzzy and normal terms to be freely mixed in the rules and facts of an expert system.

A fuzzy logic system for expert systems
Artificial Intelligence for Engineering Design, Analysis and Manufacturing, 1988Using the theory of fuzzy sets, this paper develops a fuzzy logic reasoning system as an augmentation to a rule-based expert system to deal with fuzzy information. First, fuzzy set theorems and fuzzy logic principles are briefly reviewed and organized to form a basis for the proposed fuzzy logic system.

The paper is addressed to studies of several ways of using fuzzy sets, especially fuzzy logic in expert systems to cope with different forms of uncertainty. This uncertainty is attached to probability values (linguistic probabilities) and attribute values.

Fuzzy Sets and Systems, 1986
We describe a fuzzy rule based expert production system. The system accepts as input a fuzzy vector all of whose components are fuzzy sets, and produces as output a fuzzy set of conclusions. Non-fuzzy data are stored as fuzzy data with grade of membership one; internally, all data are considered fuzzy.
