Conductive Hydrogels for Exogenous Sensing and Cell Fate Control

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We engineer electrically conductive hydrogels by combining sulfated glycosaminoglycans with semiconducting polymers. These hydrogels bind bioactive proteins, including growth factors, whose release or retention can be modulated by low‐voltage stimulation. The hydrogels are also integrated as 3D channels in organic electrochemical transistors as part of

Double‐Transition‐Metal MXenes: Multimetallic 2D Platforms for Next‐Generation Biomedicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The present work explores recent progress in double‐transition‐metal MXenes and focuses on their potential as multifunctional biomedical nanoplatforms whose tunable optical, electronic, mechanical, and surface properties enable imaging, theranostics, antimicrobial activity, biosensing, tissue engineering, and drug delivery.

Constructing implication functions from fuzzy negations

open access: yesProceedings of the 8th conference of the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology, 2013
A class of implication functions is constructed from fuzzy negations. The interest of this new class lies in its simplicity and in the fact that when N is Idsymmetrical, the corresponding implication agrees with the residuum of a commutative semicopula.

Multiscale Microscopy via Automation: Dual Magnification Environmental Scanning Electron Microscopy Imaging by Frame Alternation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An automation interface for environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) enables simultaneous, interlaced data sets via frame‐by‐frame parameter changes. Demonstrated on oscillatory hydrogen oxidation over cobalt (Co) foil, dual‐magnification imaging bridges mesoscopic to microscopic length scales, capturing alternating views of surface dynamics ...

On the measure of fuzziness and negation. II. Lattices

open access: yesInformation and Control, 1980
We propose that the measure of fuzziness of a concept is related to the distinction between the concept and its negation. In this paper we are concerned with the situation in which our objects lie in a lattice. We introduce the lattice concept of betweenness to operationalize our definition. We investigate properties of this concept of fuzziness.

A Proof‐of‐Concept Assessment of a Novel Wearable Eyelid Muscle Device: A Pre‐Clinical Animal Cadaver Study for Eyelid Closure Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article introduces a soft wearable eyelid sling device incorporating a hydraulic soft artificial muscle (SAM) for achieving complete closure of an eyelid. The SAM is driven by a cam mechanism that provides a displacement profile closely matched with those of a healthy eyelid.

Quantum Structure of Negation and Conjunction in Human Thought

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
We analyze in this paper the data collected in a set of experiments investigating how people combine natural concepts. We study the mutual influence of conceptual conjunction and negation by measuring the membership weights of a list of exemplars with ...

Relating Multi-Adjoint Normal Logic Programs to Core Fuzzy Answer Set Programs from a Semantical Approach

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
This paper relates two interesting paradigms in fuzzy logic programming from a semantical approach: core fuzzy answer set programming and multi-adjoint normal logic programming.

Negation in bounded commutative $DR\ell$-monoids

open access: yes, 2006
summary:The class of commutative dually residuated lattice ordered monoids ($DR\ell $-monoids) contains among others Abelian lattice ordered groups, algebras of Hájek’s Basic fuzzy logic and Brouwerian algebras.
