Image segmentation using fuzzy LVQ clustering networks [PDF]
In this note we formulate image segmentation as a clustering problem. Feature vectors extracted from a raw image are clustered into subregions, thereby segmenting the image.

We present a logical framework to represent and reason about fuzzy optimization problems based on fuzzy answer set optimization programming. This is accomplished by allowing fuzzy optimization aggregates, e.g., minimum and maximum in the language of fuzzy answer set optimization programming to allow minimization or maximization of some desired criteria

An AI‐Enabled All‐In‐One Visual, Proximity, and Tactile Perception Multimodal Sensor
Targeting integrated multimodal perception of robots, an AI‐enabled all‐in‐one multimodal sensor is proposed. This sensor is capable of perceiving three types of modalities, including vision, proximity, and tactility. By toggling an ultraviolet light and adjusting the camera focus, it switches smoothly between multiple perceptual modalities, enabling ...

TacScope: A Miniaturized Vision‐Based Tactile Sensor for Surgical Applications
TacScope is a compact, vision‐based tactile sensor designed for robot‐assisted surgery. By leveraging a curved elastomer surface with pressure‐sensitive particle redistribution, it captures high‐resolution 3D tactile feedback. TacScope enables accurate tumor detection and shape classification beneath soft tissue phantoms, offering a scalable, low‐cost ...

Weighted Constraints in Fuzzy Optimization [PDF]
Many practical optimization problems are characterized by someflexibility in the problem constraints, where this flexibility canbe exploited for additional trade-off between improving theobjective function and satisfying the constraints.

Continual Learning for Multimodal Data Fusion of a Soft Gripper
Models trained on a single data modality often struggle to generalize when exposed to a different modality. This work introduces a continual learning algorithm capable of incrementally learning different data modalities by leveraging both class‐incremental and domain‐incremental learning scenarios in an artificial environment where labeled data is ...

Simple Type of Support Functions of Fuzzy Sets and Its Applications
The support functions of crisp sets have been widely used in the topic of nonlinear analysis. This observation inspires to introduce the support functions of fuzzy sets.

Global Optimization strategies for two-mode clustering [PDF]
Two-mode clustering is a relatively new form of clustering that clusters both rows and columns of a data matrix. To do so, a criterion similar to k-means is optimized.

This work presents a state‐adaptive Koopman linear quadratic regulator framework for real‐time manipulation of a deformable swab tool in robotic environmental sampling. By combining Koopman linearization, tactile sensing, and centroid‐based force regulation, the system maintains stable contact forces and high coverage across flat and inclined surfaces.
