Multi-parametric linear programming under global uncertainty [PDF]
Multi-parametric programming has proven to be an invaluable tool for optimisation under uncertainty. Despite the theoretical developments in this area, the ability to handle uncertain parameters on the left-hand side remains limited and as a result ...

Abstract Peridotites record the compositional evolution of the lithospheric and asthenospheric mantle across plume‐related lithospheres, convergent margins, and rift‐related volcanic environments; however, their tectonomagmatic affinities are commonly difficult to resolve using traditional low‐dimensional geochemical discrimination diagrams.

Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Although phenology has long been recognized as a critical feature for the adaptation of organisms to their local environment, until recently, phenological events have seldom been considered in the broader context of trait‐based ecology.

EQMT integrates earthquake catalog data, fault‐network geometry, engineered features, and graph embeddings in a unified framework for forecasting earthquake magnitude and occurrence time. The framework is designed to reflect inter‐fault spatial dependencies together with temporal seismic patterns, addressing limitations of approaches based only on ...

Using a 465‐item Medical Ethics Evaluation dataset, we compared GPT‐3.5 and GPT‐4 with human experts. Although the AI models showed some alignment with core ethical principles, their accuracy remained far below expert performance, highlighting the need for further optimization before clinical application.

A Convex Approach to Minimal Partitions
We describe a convex relaxation for a family of problems of minimal perimeter partitions. The minimization of the relaxed problem can be tackled numerically, we describe an algorithm and show some results.

Pathogenesis and Therapeutics for Chronic Pruritus of Unknown Origin: A Systematic Review
ABSTRACT Chronic pruritus of unknown origin (CPUO) is a distressing condition characterized by persistent itch lasting over 6 weeks without an identifiable cause. The underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood, complicating diagnosis and treatment.

Constant Rank Bimatrix Games are PPAD-hard
The rank of a bimatrix game (A,B) is defined as rank(A+B). Computing a Nash equilibrium (NE) of a rank-$0$, i.e., zero-sum game is equivalent to linear programming (von Neumann'28, Dantzig'51). In 2005, Kannan and Theobald gave an FPTAS for constant rank

Bayesian clustering of multivariate extremes
Abstract The asymptotic dependence structure between multivariate extreme values is fully characterized by their projections on the unit simplex. Under mild conditions, the only constraint on the resulting distributions is that their marginal means must be equal, which results in a nonparametric model that can be difficult to use in applications ...
