Fuzzy Relational Equations and Universal Approximation

2016
This chapter presents the concepts of fuzzy relationships and fuzzy relational equations. These are applied to medical diagnosis and Bayesian inference. The notion of universal approximator with applications to dynamical systems, complete the chapter.

Fuzzy relational equations in monoidal logics

2004 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37542), 2005
We present a general framework for solving fuzzy relational equations in monoidal logics. This framework yields the general solution equations for relational systems based on large family of many-valued logics. The proofs use as a tool certain relational inequalities that we call BK-residuated bootstrap.

Fuzzy Relation Equations in Semilinear Spaces

2010
We introduce a notion of an idempotent semilinear space and consider two systems of linear-like equations. These systems are equivalent to systems of fuzzy relation equations with sup-*and \(\inf\)-→ compositions. We show that the theory of Galois connections can be successfully used in characterizing whether these systems are solvable and, if so ...

PROCESS CONTROL USING FUZZY LOGIC AND FUZZY RELATIONAL EQUATIONS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1989
Abstract First we recall the logic basis for a fuzzy controller, i.e. implication rules between observed states and control signals, and conditional inference rules. Then logic operators which take place in approximate reasoning are investigated. Grounded upon Holmblad's data cement kiln, we search for operators which yield a satisfactory result ...

Fuzzy relation equations theory as a basis of fuzzy modelling: An overview

Fuzzy Sets and Systems, 1991
The paper gives a short review of applications of fuzzy relation equations. Several fuzzy models are mentioned with indication to suitable references (60 items).

Fuzzy relation equations and fuzzy inference systems: an inside approach

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Part B (Cybernetics), 1999
This paper investigates and extends the use of fuzzy relation equations for the representation and study of fuzzy inference systems. Using the generalized sup-t (t is a triangular norm) composition of fuzzy relations and the study of sup-t fuzzy relation equations, interesting results are provided concerning the completeness and the theoretical ...

Functional relations and fuzzy relational equations

2002 Annual Meeting of the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society Proceedings. NAFIPS-FLINT 2002 (Cat. No. 02TH8622), 2003
Investigates a class of fuzzy relational equations, involving functional relations. It is shown how they can be solved, with ideas originating from the concept of truth-qualification of a fuzzy proposition. These equations are also discussed and related to the problem of the decomposition of a fuzzy relation by a fuzzy set.

ORDERING FUZZY SETS BY CONSENSUS CONCEPT AND FUZZY RELATION EQUATIONS

International Journal of General Systems, 1984
A general class of consensus measures of fuzzy sets is introduced in this paper. It is shown that, while the consensus measures are valuations but neither isotone nor antitone with respect to the lattice structure induced by the pointwise maximum and minimum operations to the set of all the fuzzy sets on a nonempty crisp set, they are antitone ...
