Fuzziness in Information Systems

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2003
AbstractThis paper considers an approach to approximation of sets assuming fuzzy description of information systems. The notions of lower and upper approximation of fuzzy sets are analysed. Modified definitions of approximations are proposed by extending the concept of variable precision rough sets on fuzzy sets.

Diffusion‐based size determination of solute particles: a method adapted for postsynaptic proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We present a diffusion‐based approach for measuring the size of macromolecules and their complexes, and demonstrate its use on postsynaptic proteins. The method requires fluorescein‐labelled protein samples, a microfluidic device that maintains laminar flow for said samples, a microscope recording the emitted fluorescent signals, and an analytic ...

The MSA Atrophy Index (MSA‐AI): An Imaging Marker for Diagnosis and Clinical Progression in Multiple System Atrophy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Reliable biomarkers are essential for tracking disease progression and advancing treatments for multiple system atrophy (MSA). In this study, we propose the MSA Atrophy Index (MSA‐AI), a novel composite volumetric measure to distinguish MSA from related disorders and monitor disease progression. Methods Seventeen participants with an

Advanced inference in fuzzy systems by rule base compression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper describes a method for rule base compression of fuzzy systems. The method compresses a fuzzy system with an arbitrarily large number of rules into a smaller fuzzy system by removing the redundancy in the fuzzy rule base.

Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Astrocytopathy Based on a Two‐Center Chinese Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy (GFAP‐A) is a recently defined nosological form belonging to the class of autoimmune inflammatory disorders affecting the central nervous system (CNS). Here, we report the clinical and MRI characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of a GFAP‐A cohort from two centers in China.

Optimization of Fuzzy Controller Using Galactic Swarm Optimization with Type-2 Fuzzy Dynamic Parameter Adjustment

open access: yesAxioms, 2019
Galactic swarm optimization (GSO) is a recently created metaheuristic which is inspired by the motion of galaxies and stars in the universe. This algorithm gives us the possibility of finding the global optimum with greater precision since it uses ...

Optimized Time–Frequency Analysis for Induction Motor Fault Detection Using Hybrid Differential Evolution and Deep Learning Techniques

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Workflow of the parameter optimization process for ITSC fault detection, applying Differential Evolution optimization and the Smooth Pseudo Wigner‐Ville Distribution for signal processing. The optimized parameters are then used in the failure identification pipeline, which combines the signal processing with a YOLO‐based architecture for fault severity
