Fuzzy Set Theory

1992
The term “fuzzy” was proposed by Zadeh in 1962 [273]. In 1965, Zadeh formally published the famous paper “Fuzzy Sets”[274]. The fuzzy set theory is developed to improve the oversimplified model, thereby developing a more robust and flexible model in order to solve real-world complex systems involving human aspects.

Fuzzy Set Theory

2011
Fuzzy set theory has been developed to solve problems where the descriptions of activities and observations are imprecise, vague, or uncertain. The term “fuzzy” refers to a situation in where there are no well defined boundaries of the set of activities or observations to which the descriptions apply.

Possibility Theory,Probability Theory, and Fuzzy Set Theory

1991
Since L. Zadeh proposed the concept of a fuzzy set in 1965, the relationships between probability theory and fuzzy set theory have been further discussed. Both theories seem to be similar in the sense that both are concerned with some type of uncertainty and both use the [0, 1] interval for their measures as the range of their respective functions (At ...

Fuzzy Set Theory

2000
This chapter presents the fundamental ideas behind fuzzy set theory. It begins with a review of traditional set theory (commonly referred to as crisp or classical set theory in the fuzzy set literature) and uses this as a backdrop, against which fuzzy sets and a variety of operations on fuzzy sets are introduced.

Fuzzy-Mengen-Theorie

2001

Fuzzy Set Theory

2008
In this chapter we present the reader with the fundamental concepts of fuzzy set theory. The basic primer on fuzzy set theory remains Zadeh’s1965 seminal work. A number of scholars have since discussed several aspects of fuzzy set theory pertinent to the social sciences. Perhaps the best overview is provided by Smithson and Verkuilen (2006).

Fuzzy Decision Theory

1999
The main purpose of the fuzzy approach of individual preferences is to introduce some new behaviors inside the standard theory. The existing literature is generally divided in two schools, according to the position authors adopt relatively to the axiom of Independence of Irrelevant Alternatives (IIA).1 Actually, most of the works using fuzzy ...

Fuzzy-Set-Theorie

1999

Random Fuzzy Theory

2004
Liu [75] initialized the concept of random fuzzy variable and defined the chance of random fuzzy event as a function from (0,1] to [0,1]. In order to rank random fuzzy variables, Liu and Liu [83] presented a scalar expected value operator, and Liu [75] presented the concepts of optimistic and pessimistic values.
